so I'm babysitting an 8 yo boy and a 5 yo girl, and i decided to restart watching TDP with them (they LOVE it). At the episode where Amaya first appears i stayed quiet to see if they would noticed her being deaf and mute. They actually did notice on the NEXT episode, and the girl asked me why Amaya didn't just try talking, so i explained to her what being mute and being deaf was, and she got it!
Then i taught them how to say "cute" in ASL (yeh, season 3 spoiler) and how to say "you", and "I", and the boy signed a short sentence right after (by saying "you're not cute i'm cute" lmao).
This, people, is why representation is important. I'll update when we get to the Aanya's parents part :)
Edit : it's been brought up that Amaya is indeed only deaf and not deaf and mute!
