How to make Correction to your E-TDS Return Online on TRACES?
Correcting your E-TDS Return Online on TDSCPC.Gov.In – TRACES
TDSCPC (TRACES) has started accepting online correction request in your E-TDS return. Correction can only be made to the E-TDS return filed through TDSCPC website.
Currently only two types of corrections can be made on the website:
Challan Correction (change in challan data)
PAN Correction (change in PAN number)
But before requesting for correction, deductor needs to first register his digital signature (class II and class III digital signature required), if not already registered.
Steps for making Correction in E-TDS Return
a. Raising Request
1. Login at www.tdscpcp.gov.in.
2. Click on “Default” tab and then select Request for Correction.
3. Now fill up all the required information such as quarter, year, form type (26q, 24q etc.), latest PRN number of approved TDS statement etc and click on “Submit Request” to raise the request.
4. Return for correction will be made available after a while (time limit not given at website).
b. Track or check Correction Request Status
After raising request for correction you can check the status of your request by selecting “Track Correction Request” under the Default Tab. In case the status display available for correction, then click on the link to start the correction process. At present you can make only two types of corrections i.e. Challan correction and PAN Correction. Other changes cannot be done online
c. Correction Ready for Submission
Once you made all the corrections, the next step would be submitting it. Again for submission Click on the Defaults tab and select Corrections Ready for Submission. Deductor is required to digitally signed the corretion statement to submit.
In case the correction statement is successfully submitted you will get the message on the screen that “Correction Statement Successfully Submitted”. You will be given a token number with which you can track the status of your correction statement under “Statements/Payments” Tab.
