greetings from the east coast! I happened across your shop online and have followed for a bit because I LOVE what you make. I'm a big tea lover (clearly lol) and wanted to ask if you had any thoughts on tea blends for someone who can't have hot liquids? I have a medical condition that reacts to hot or warm liquids, so I can only drink my tea iced, and it's heavily limited how I can explore and engage with the art that is tea :( do you have recommendations on types of teas or blends that are easier to serve properly in iced form?
Hello! YES I have the tea on cold tea! Cold brew is about to become your bff. The best teas to cold brew are the ones with natural fruity or floral aroma, ideally whole leaf, ideally pretty simple blends or pure teas. I'd avoid matcha-dusted blends and blends with roots in them, as those tend to get funky and bitter. You can pick any tea you like, put about 1.5x the amount you would for hot tea brew in your teapot, french press, mason jar, etc., then fill with cool water and put in the fridge overnight. The next day, simply strain and enjoy! My top 3 faves for cold brew (or iced tea in general) are: 1. Enshi Yu Lu (aka "Jade Dew" green tea) 2. Colombian Black Leafy (honestly any Colombian tea) 3. Merry Fellow (cheerful LOTR inspired blend)

1. Tea leaves need room to stretch and move, or they won’t extract to their full potential.
2. Brew too hot? Your tea will scald and taste cardboardy and flat. Too cool? Your tea will taste weak and lack body and aroma.
3. Strength and body in tea have a lot to do with your leaf to water ratio! Don’t be afraid to play with this aspect.
4. Aroma is an oft-overlooked part of the tea experience. Don’t miss it. That’s where the magic happens.
5. Fads come and go. Drink what brings you joy and don’t worry about what’s currently considered hip vs basic.
