Poetry Challenge - Day 21 Tassology
My hands are warmed by a cup of tea, outside it's raining. I'm okay, and this day will be okay too.
Robin
My event got canceled but I thought some of you here might like the poem at least. Kids were going to draw a face for the monsters and then “blend” two teas for their parents using pre-selected blends and ingredients.
Picture of faceless monster forms and a poem reading
Dear Big Monsters,
I love you so much. I know sometimes your days are long and nights are super tough.
I know you always rush to care for me after every little nightmare... those times I woke up crying 'cause I couldn't find my hair.
So I made you a Happy Monster Brew that's sure to be a winner... or at the very least will help you make it all the way to dinner.
It has caffeine but not so much it leaves you all a-jitter, and it's sweet instead of bitter.
After dinner just for you I made a Sleepy Monster Brew.
Just make a cup, then relax and wait for time to pass.
Waking up at midnight to help me find my nose hasn't won you an award, though we both know well it should! At least we know when you wake up you can at least drink something good!
Love, Little Monster

Death is too negative for me So I'll be popping off for a long cup of tea Do splash out on two bags in the pot And for my god's sake keep the water hot Please pick the biggest mug you can find Size really does matter at this time I'll pass on the lapsang with that souchong And that stuff with bergamot And stick with my favourite friend You know the English breakfast blend Breakfast! thanks for reminding me There's just time before I fail To stand on ceremony Two rashers of best back, Should keep me Smelling sweet up the smokestack So, mother, put the kettle on for me It's time, mother, for my long cup of tea

Tea ☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕ An old lady went down to the market to buy some cheese

I love you like unsent love letters and lemon. All of the things that I will probably never say want to bubble out of me. Every emotion makes me feel more flustered than the kettle that I imagine boiling so that we can share a glass of tea. Wondering has always been a dangerous game for children to play, but I often question if that changes when we get older. You would never know when the kettle is hot and ready without the whistle. Or, in another case of placing your hands on scolding hot metal. Parents reminded us that all worldly things demand patience. Patience. Time seems to blast past me like a steam roller whenever I’m with you. Giggles turn into intimate code and make my heart skip like hopscotching children on playgrounds. Children are reminded at least to look both ways before crossing the street. Funnily enough, I’d leap into oncoming traffic to follow you.. If I wait though, most opportunities are missed. Passing cars have the option to stop, but my head fills with anxiety as if I were run over. Nobody tells us when to be careful anymore. “The tea is still too hot.” The monsters in our closets become our own reflections that I am not afraid of when I think of you. Additional sugar is unneeded for most types of tea. Some people mix multiple teas together. I would prefer to keep our gatherings cordial just in case. Gloves accompanied by hats, and friends with finger sandwiches are often best. Suggestibly because after tea you like to get coffee. Everyone says that it’s bad for you to drink that much. I’m just hoping that by the time you realize it too… You still like tea. Patience only helps time pass as the water gets warm. Sipping tea after a while turns the flavor bitter as the liquid gets colder. I love you, and I also love cold tea ; I just hope you will too.
