Brown Lake Stradbroke Island
Brown Lake Stradbroke Island

The Lake Within Soft midday breeze cools my ski as I sit solitude under the rugged and robust tea trees. I feel my mind is much at ease listening to the distant bird calls and the nearby insects calling within the tangled branches and lush leaves. The lake's water is somewhat dark and still below; the breeze caressing the surface creating tranquil ripples. I somehow relate with comfort but knowing what lies beneath should never be stirred. Exfoliating trunks and branches like dead skin peeling from a child's sunburnt shoulders. Decaying organic matter lies on these shores. Spiders skim across the tops of them with much speed and skills of survival. I finally look into the distance once more but see; I see a lush green patch of what looks like water lilies peacefully rested on the waters edge. Spent the entire weekend planting, still partially as a contingency to gain our certificate of occupancy. It was a ton of work, but the house is starting to get more personality... Can’t wait to fill in the front with more plantings.
