WHO IS THE THIEF?

During my years of teaching, it never seized to amaze me how often children’s clothing came up missing during the school day.  On this one particular day, a primary student was dropped off early at school so she went to CLC (before school child care).  She took her winter gear off and joined the group.  When it was time to go to her classroom, her new name brand jacket was GONE!  The whole school went on a search for this name brand jacket.  Looking in student lockers, backpacks, lost & found, called her mom, etc.. NO JACKET!  Her mom was quite upset since this was a new expensive jacket for winter.  WAS THERE A THIEF IN THE SCHOOL????  A few days later, the jacket magically appeared on a kindergartner.  HUM!!!!!!  The kindergartner was so proud of her new jacket and claimed her mom had just found it for her.  We were all happy to see this child inappropriate winter clothing since she hadn’t been earlier.  This child had a winter jacket earlier.  We all knew this was the MISSING jacket but how did she get it.  Well, the new owner’s mom fumbled about where she acquired the jacket but she stuck to her story for about a week.  Then suddenly one morning the MISSING jacket was laying on the floor in the school cafeteria.  The school camera should the mom of the kindergartner coming in the school and throwing the jacket in the corner then exiting the building.  The original owner of the jacket was thrilled to get it back but the THIEF was a smoker and a cat owner.  The MISSING jacket STUNK!  Eventually, after much cleaning, the jacket was wearable but not at school.  Also, the THIEF was contacted but she had some elaborate story about her emotional state of mind at the time she took it.  Does that give you the right to steal?  So next time, I’m having a bad day I should go and take something!  Come on people - what the HECK!
