Question to everyone:
What is your favorite book that you read between the ages 11-14?
I am asking because I'm looking for suggestions for next school year. And I need to add books to my class library.
Thanks guys!

I hope you feel better soon my dear! What would you say is the most rewarding part of teaching?
Thank you so much! Today was just a bad day and right before Spring Break too...
I would have to say it’s when a student has what we like to call an “A Ha!” moment. This is when the student finally gets the concept or understands the question after asking for help. Even with all the bad days, this is what makes my day better.
I would also say when the students make you laugh when they know you either have a bad day or know that the day is going to be difficult. I have this student who is in our first period and they are always silly by putting messages on the assignment page or saying odd things. It always makes my day and encourages me to smile and I think they know this. There are students in our second period who do the same thing. They know I’m having an off day and will do everything in their power to make me smile or laugh.
It’s great to know sometimes that there are students who care and will do everything in their power to make us smile.
You know you're a teacher when...
You have to buy a 5 pound bag of blue Jolly Ranchers because that's all the kids like 😂😂
But yeah... Amazon sells bags of just one type of Jolly Rancher and I'm all for it
You know your old when....
You students don't know what Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain are.
Student: What are we doing today?
Me: The same thing we do every day. Try and take over the world.
Student: What are you even talking about?
I mean this just saddens me
One doesn't know how much materials a teacher has until they have to move from a classroom to a house.
Not only is it very depressing, it is also crazy at how much a teacher use their own money on materials, treasure box items, cleaning products, art materials, birthday materials, materials for holidays, posters, and more.
How does one dare to organize all these materials?
I have wonderful news!!!!
I passed my Professional Exam for my Teacher Certificate!!!! Now all I need to do is take a math test and I am DONE!!!
You guys have no idea how proud I am of myself. I seriously thought I was going to fail and I didn't
Now excuse me as I do a happy dance
@tending-the-hearth @roxycake I have done it!
Having a conversation about my peanut allergy with my students is always draining.
It came about after a student was told to spit out gum or food (whatever they had in their mouth) and I got a sudden smell of a peanut butter cup. It was so sudden, I had to take a step back and take a sip of water.
I had to explain why it was important that they don't eat peanut candy in the room. My allergy isn't really that bad since it's more of a tolerance thing but I still get symptoms. My throat gets strange, my lips swell, and I get bad headaches. I don't normally carry my Epi Pen with me at work since I don't have to think about it.
What makes it worse is how they don't take it seriously. Any food allergy is extremely important. A person can die of they don't have the proper medication or (in my case along with an Epi Pen) allergy medicine.
It's so irritating!
I found this at my local craft store and immediately knew I needed to buy it. This is going to hang all year in my classroom. And no it's not because it reminds me of a Disney movie. Though that is a plus.
@skywalkerangst it's spoopy time
