Before the school year comes to an end, I was able to host our second student counselling program with Sahrish Iftekhar. The girls from 6th, 7th and 8th grade who wanted to become in artist, participated in the event. Sahrish talked about what our students need to do in terms of academic and behavior at each benchmark. They discussed the actions and attitudes of successful students that leads on the path of becoming artists and also discussed which college they should aim for. smile emoticon Thank you Sahrish for coming and having the session with our students, another session is due! You cant imagine what a joy it is to read books and stories for my students! Just a quick reminder! I am collecting donations for our 'Take A Book Home' library project in my placement government school. If you have old story books or children magazines, I would love to have them for my students. :) we have recently added 125 books in our library. Zeeshan has always been so hard to get to. He has always been so hard to invest in. In past 2 weeks he has not only started to put sincere efforts in class but has alsonstarted to explain procedures. Today its his unit exam and unlike previous tests he is attempting his paper with aim to score good!! This is why I am glad I made this choice. This kid doing his exam is the best feeling of this world!!! Just when I was beginning to think I cant get to him, Zeeshan responded! You know what culture of achievement is? When not only students, school teachers are also interested in what you are doing in your classrooms and take inspiration from it. Today I noticed during a school meeting, this government teacher was found busy studying @hpew.91's language charts. :) #TeachForPakistan
We are now implementing @TeachForPak's positive wall-post trend with our 5th graders. Girls are encouraged to write positive/suggestions for their peers and teachers so it can help them reevaluate and become a better person. There is just one rule. No urdu post-it notes ;) atleast for now. The notes will stay in the envelopes I, Hafsa and Muketaj will monitor them every now and then, just to ensure the girls dont forget why this suggestion section is actually there. P.S. these girls did a beter job with these envelopes than we did. #TeachForPakistan #TeachForAll
