I think that yes
my Spanish students. They all use directly translated phrases in class. I do the same in Spanish, when I manage to find time to speak a little. I like it when they say super Spanish things for the same reason I their accents, it's cute and interesting. I never noticed that they constantly say "I think that yes" until one student pointed it out. That's my only problem with these translated sayings: I don't usually notice them! I've been friends with Spanish speakers for so long that I even incorporate these things into my own vocabulary! I guess this particular phrase would be translated from the perfectly acceptable Spanish "creo que sí" into "I believe so." But how many others an I missing? I'm such a meaning oriented person that unless I'm actively writing down what a student is saying, I completely miss these. Oh well, they are learning and so am I.
