what do you think ferris's feelings towards pete, and the rest of her family, are?
PETE: Despite everything that has gone on with Pete and his behavior, Ferris still loves him. She doesn’t realize just how wrong everything that’s going on is. Of course, she knows it’s wrong, but she doesn’t realize that it’s actually a really horrible thing to have happen. She still thinks of her dad as a somewhat good person, especially on his good days, and will often use memories from before he was abusive as ways to continue to see him as a better person than he is. She would defend and follow him to the ends of the earth, half out of fear and half out of loyalty towards her family. She doesn’t like anyone talking badly about him, though she’s more tolerant of it if it’s Jessie, Sam or Ron. She feels a large mixture of emotions towards her father, though it can definitely be said that she doesn’t hate him. In ways she even looks up to him, though it’s more-so because of his success in his career than anything else. She believes that the abuse is his way of showing how much he cares about her and the family, which has led her to think that it’s how a lot of people show that they care. She doesn’t consider herself close to him, but she does believe that they have a somewhat typical father/daughter relationship.
JESSIE: (specifically @capableiisms.) She looks up to Jessie more than anyone else. In her eyes Jessie is one of the greatest people - if not the single greatest person - on earth. She looks up to her moms creativity and strength, often trying to do artistic things to be like her. She see’s her mother put up with so much from Pete and it makes her sad that her moms not happy. She’ll sometimes try to do things to cheer her up (like make her drawings or small sculptures) but she knows that it’s not gonna be enough. She’s definitely closer to Jessie than she is to Pete, but that isn’t much of a competition. If it were to come down to something where it was Jessie vs Pete she would pick Jessie without much hesitation, the only thing making her even consider being on Pete’s side being the fear he instills in her. Still, at the end of the day Jessie is gonna win out over anyone. Ferris admires her courage when it comes to trying to protect her children and will always do whatever it takes to look after her mom as much as she looks after her.
SAM: Sam is someone that Ferris just wants to protect. She sees nothing but innocence in him and wants to keep that in him as long as possible. She’d throw herself into danger a million times before letting him get hurt. She wants to make him feel safe and like he can be himself, though there’s not a lot she can do to make him feel that way with their father around. She will always look out for Sam’s safety and happiness before her own, believing that he deserves both more than she ever could. Her and Sam aren’t the closest people in the world, but she makes it known that she cares about him and would gladly blow off plans to hang out with him. He’s everything she wants in a younger brother, and will dedicate her life to protecting him.
RON: (specifically @teachmetoshoot.) Ron and Ferris are at a point where it seems more like they’re twins than older brother and younger sister. They do almost everything together yet at the same time spend a lot of time at each others throats. They’re beyond protective of each other and are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their sibling is happy. They work together to protect Sam a lot, and Ron often tries to divert Pete’s attention from Ferris. They could talk to each other about pretty much anything and aren’t afraid to speak up when something’s wrong. They look out for each others safety and happiness as much as - if not more than - their own. They’ve got a bit of a benefit with the fact that they’re so close together in age, as they go through things at around about the same time. They try their best to get along with each others friends, though Ferris’ friends mostly consists of Ron and Carl, who also happens to be Ron’s friend. At the end of the day they’d go to the ends of the earth for each other with only mild complaining, and they’d talk about how good they looked doing it.
