1) What’s one food that everyone seems to like except you
Those autumnal spices: ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. Everything associated with pumpkin-y things. I find autumn a brutal time of year because everywhere you go someone is trying to force something with ginger or nutmeg or cinnamon or all of them upon you, and I simply do not care for that flavor profile.
2) You’ve had a long/bad/ugh day. When you finally get home, what do you do to make yourself feel better
I make myself a cup of tea or a glass of wine, hopefully track down some chocolate, pull a blanket up over me, and then dive into the internet. And then, hopefully, I write.
3) What’s that one weird, silly thing you actually believed for far longer than you should have
I think I want to believe desperately in so many fictional things.
4) What’s your must-have road trip snack
A Dunkin’ iced tea, tbh. I am more likely to want something to drink than something to eat.
5) Guilty pleasure movie
Love Actually.
6) What are you procrastinating on right now that you should be doing
Actually I AM DONE WITH MY OBLIGATIONS. For one glorious week I am allowed to not do anything and I am very happy. :-)
7) Favorite season and why
I like all seasons except fall. Not just because fall has all those flavors I don’t like but I have a hard time adjusting to the darkness and the gloominess. Once it’s actually winter, it’s not so bad, because I like the way the air gets cold and sharp and I love a good snowstorm. But that gray, rainy darkness makes me sad. I do definitely appreciate aspects of fall, so I don’t *hate* fall; it’s just the one I find myself sadder in than the others, which I blame on how much I need sunlight.
8) Describe your favorite place you’ve ever been (in as much detail as you want)
Boston. :-)
9) If you had to choose a time period besides the current to live in, when would it be
I don’t think I’d really want to live in any other time period. I think I’d be really bad at it. Being ten years older (I was born in 1980) probably wouldn’t be that terrible, though. It seems like that could have been a sweet spot in history to have hit upon everything. Not that *I* want to be ten years older! But if I had to choose a different time period, I think maybe I would just shift it a little. But even ten years might be too much, because I wouldn’t want to hit technology much older than I did, I already find it challenging enough. So who knows. As challenging as this time period is, others were not better.
10) How do you take your coffee/tea
I only drink tea, and I usually take it with nothing, just straight. Black, I guess you would say. Including my iced tea. But if there is quality honey available, I will put honey in my tea (and lemon, if it’s around).
11) If you had more free time, what hobby/activity would you start doing
I own a harp that has been sitting untouched for so long. :-( It saddens me, I really want to learn, I just can never seem to find the time.
My questions:
1) What was your first ship?
2) What’s your favorite trope?
3) Recommend a television show to me.
4) What do you keep by your bed?
5) What sound do you use as the alarm on your phone?
6) Window or aisle seat?
7) What’s your ideal meet-cute?
8) What’s your personality type?
9) Do you have a book you re-read often?
10) Plant person or no?
11) Would you like to travel to outer space?
