It really wasn't bad, but there was nothing Jedidiah hated more than seeing the evidence of his mistakes, so it couldn't stay.

It was often Sydney who came up with their topic of discussion, and Jedidiah who engaged with it passionately. He had a mind fast enough to keep up with Sydney’s rapid-fire thought process, often jumping between topic to topic. He liked to think Sydney kept him on his toes that way.

Sydney thought to himself for a moment, flipping through his ever-growing list of topics. He waved his hand, trying and failing to get Jedidiah’s attention as he’d returned his glasses to their spot on his face and continued his studying.

“Hmm, what do you think you’ll be like in the future? Like–after high school and college ‘n stuff.” Sydney blurted out.
