Last month I did some drugstore dupe posts that a lot of people seemed to enjoy (thank you by the way) so I decided to do another one comparing luxury and drugstore foundation powders.You may have noticed lately that people are going for more natural looking makeup and powder foundations are a great way to give yourself a lightweight makeup base with buildable coverage. So I'm gonna be chatting you through my favourite drugstore and high end powder foundations!
Starting off with the drugstore option we have the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Powder Foundation, £8.00 in shade 2 which is for fair skin with pink undertones. This formula is designed to be finely milled, satin lightweight finish and leave no flashback in photos. It's also infused with Hyaluronic acid for hydration so the powder doesn't dry out your skin. It has cute rose gold packaging that includes a little compartment for foundation puff to apply product on the go. I love using this powder foundation and I would say it offers a medium buildable finish so depending on your makeup application you can choose the coverage. I throw this on for days when I want something quick and easy to apply. Since it's a satin finish I would say on the skin depending on the primer you use it's a matte base with a subtle glow.
Next up we have the high end powder foundation which is the Fenty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Powder Foundation , £27.00 in shade 120 which is my usual Fenty shade. This formula is designed to give the wearer a light-as-air powder that offers a light to full coverage finish depending on application. It is a gorgeous soft matte finish that is for sure more matte than satin like the first option. This powder does not cake on your skin when you layer it up and as well as reducing shine it also smooths your face to give you a airbrushed finish. Like the first option it also has a compartment to keep a little foundation sponge for application on the go. This powder in particular has amazing coverage and using the foundation sponger I can apply the powder perfectly over my face so quickly.
I would say comparing both powder foundations together they are very similar in terms of design, finish and both offering buildable coverage. Personally I use the Fenty powder the most because it is a spot on match for my skin tone, the Revolution powder is a tiny bit light so if I wear it I have to bronze up a little. But that's more my fault then anything else. So if you are looking for a drugstore dupe I really would recommend checking out the Revolution powder especially if you're on a budget. But if like me you like a powder with a blurring effect then I would suggest trying out the Fenty powder.
Regardless of the foundation powder you choose to use I would highly highly recommend wearing a hydrating primer to moisturiser underneath so you skin doesn't get dry or patchy during the day.
