Big Ol’ Honkin’ OC Question List: L. For the Writer/Owner
1. How have your characters changed since you created them?
- Jazzy: Viridian was created to be a quirky mischievous person, but then I found out that she practically mirrors me and her past was way worse then I planned. Taro has become a bit more patriotic, but Roxo, Auré, Corax, and Kon haven't changed much.
- Lyra: Crimson has become a bit more serious than her original plan & Natsuki had become way more somber. Morrow, Dalton, & Sarcelle haven’t changed.
2. What do you consider the biggest themes in your character, if any?
- Jazzy: It's hard but necessary to let go of the past; Secrets can be painful; Open up to your friends, not everyone hates you.
- Lyra: Just because they’re related to you by blood doesn’t mean they’re your family or that you have to love them. It’s perfectly ok to create your own family with people you do love.
3. Did you create the character to be like yourself, did they end up being like yourself, or are they very different from you?
- Jazzy: Viridian mirrors me almost exactly and what doesn't I give to Chaton. Chaton is a mix of who I want to be and who I could have been.
- Lyra: Crimson is kind of like another version of me, if my circumstances were a bit different. Sarcelle is exactly like me, and I plan to keep her that way.
4. Would you hang out with your OC if you could?
5. Which OC do you think is the most decent morally or behaviorally?
- Jazzy: Out of mine, Kon. Out of Lyra's, Natsuki.
- Lyra: Out of mine, Natsuki. Out of everyone, Taronja or Kon.
6. Which OC do you think is the worst morally or behaviorally?
- Lyra: Crimson or Dalton
7. Which OC do you think is the most attractive?
- Jazzy: Corax. Although I do like Volume4!Viridian. Out of Lyra's, Dalton.
- Lyra: Morrow/Dalton for mine, and Corax out of everyone
8. What’s the longest you’ve had an OC for?
- Jazzy: Out of ever, 4ish years. For team-mtal, 2 months.
- Lyra: About 6 years (2 years out of my characters here)
9. How did you come up with your OC?
- Jazzy: Taronja is my cinnamon child, and I made him as a fox faunus with an invisibility semblance-but then Lyra said that's what Crimson was. So I kinda said, lol they're twins. And it kinda stuck. Roxo was originally created as Taro's love interest so I had Taro in my head whispering what he should look like. I went with Gryffindor Pastel Child. Aureolin was made by both Lyra and I, but is considered my character. She's basically a mix of Annabeth Chase and one of my close friends. Although I gave her more logistical capabilities and less emotional ones. Corax was originally made for Viridian's love interest (because IRL Viri has a boyfriend). Corey's personality is a majority my boyfriend's, while her appearance was a mix of clashing with Viri and following her father's appearance. Backstory wise...I really love Qrow. Like, favorite character love. So yeah. Chaton was created by how I would want to be in the RWBYverse. The traits of myself that weren't given to Viri were almost always given to Chaton. Kon isn't my character. As a bonding experience I asked my little brother if he wanted to make a character like his big sis does. I tweaked his appearance some to fit the RWBYverse rules, and had to change most of his backstory for the same reason. (It's not possible to become a faunus at night and be human during the day. But nice try kiddo). Viridian is me for the most part. Even though she wasn't created to be. She was created to be best friend's with Nora, quirky and hyper. However, once I made her appearance and listened to her that quickly changed. My ex-boyfriend abused me, and that shone through to Viri's backstory. A ton of her mannerisms are mine and when I answer questions with her, I answer them honestly and then I make sure it fits in with what isn't me.
- Lyra: Morrow is based off of a childhood friend of mine, although it’s subconsciously. I honestly can’t even pin who his inspiration is. Dalton was created because I really wanted to know a jokester/class clown, since it seems like everyone’s met one except me. Natsuki was me longing for a mom-friend in my personal life (I now have several). Sarcelle is exactly who I am; I always answer her questions like they’re directed towards myself. My thought process for Crimson was: “Well, I like foxes, & foxes are red, & I want to be good at archery…there we go! That’s a character!” She’s also very similar to me (you may have noticed that a lot of her responses are similar to Sarcelle’s). Unlike Jazzy’s character Chaton, Crimson is more who I could’ve become if I didn’t know the people I do. I see her life as an almost parallel to mine/Sarcelle’s (as parallel you can get with fiction) but if circumstances were different, those lines could eventually intersect.
