All Aboard! #TeamCousins

Lets start with some backstory.  If you have read our blogs, followed our Twitter @Sportstalk916 or followed us on Facebook, hell even listened to our show on iTunes, or Mixlr you know that both Greg B and Greg V have been advocates of trading Sacramento Kings Center Demarcus Cousins, as a final option if plans A and B didn't work. 

Obviously plans A and B have always been build around DMC, get the right coach, core, plan and win with arguably one of the best bigs in the NBA.  I have felt strongly in the past that steps A and B have come and gone, and the time is now to trade Demarcus Cousins and let me tell you I have received PLENTY of hate for this mind set. 

Fast forward to the offseason we are currently in. The Kings, fire George Karl, give GM Vlade Divac a true GM contract, not just the handshake deal he was essentially working on last season and made what I feel was the best coaching hire since Rick Adleman in Dave Joerger who was let go from Memphis after the playoffs this past season. 

From the start the relationship with Joerger and Cousins appeared to be 100% better than the relationship with Karl and Cousins, there was communication an attempt at a friendship and lets face it respect. 

I think this pairing alone is enough to want to keep Cousins around and here is why.  When Joerger took over in Memphis they had very similar pieces to what we currently have here in Sacramento.   He took on a team with a core 3 of Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Mike Conley. These players can essentially be interchangeable with what Joerger will be working with here in Sacramento with Demarcus Cousins, Willie Cauley-Stein and for now, Darren Collison, who may or may not be with the team pending legal troubles. **note**  I hope the Kings can Land Conley to fill this scenario** 

If Joerger was able to make the playoffs 3 years in a row with a team built around those 3 in Memphis there is no reason to feel there is going to be a different outcome here in Sacramento with a solid PG (who yet we don't know) a very young and up and coming WCS who can easily fill the role of Gasol and Cousins who is much better a player than Randolph.     

So join me in joining #TeamCousins its time to win with DMC now.  Vlade has the cap space, the pieces hopefully to make some moves and a short window to win, as Cousins will go into the final year of his contact NEXT Season making THIS season critical. Why you ask? 

If we are not winning now, Cousins and many fans likely will be very unhappy. At that point you HAVE to look at moving Cousins at THIS Deadline while he still has value and a year left on that deal. If you wait till his contract year where he is an UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT the following summer, his value essentially becomes none, as he is a fight risk and teams won't offer much for his services as they know they can go after him in the offseason and keep their young pieces to entice him to sign.  

So lets join together on #TeamCousins and save the future because if we don't have a piece like Cousins, then lets face it, we all lose.
