The way Landon looks at “Skylar May” is something ONLY fairy tales are made of. Literally authors write Rom Coms about this type of love. As a mother it is the most heart warming thing to witness. I stood back last night at the prom & watched these two dance the night away. I have watched their friendship blossom over the past seven months or so and it’s the sweetest thing I have ever seen. Skylar sees Landon for Landon. She doesn’t see his wheelchair as a burden, she finds ways to help him and his teacher & aides in the classroom tell me she is quite the helper with him. Skylar even told me herself today that she wheels him right next to her everyday during lunch when Nurse Tina feeds him. She fixes his glasses when they are inching down on his nose, she even runs and grabs the bucket when he is about to get sick. Skylar has no idea the gift she has given me as a mother. And last night as we were leaving prom, she asked me, “Can Landon & I have a playdate tomorrow meaning today {Saturday}?” I was completely taken back because for the 9 years Landon has been on this earth no one has ever asked him to play. Yes friends of mine have asked if we could get our kids together and what not, but no real child has ever showed up at our front door asking for him to play and then here we are at the dance and his date is literally asking if they could have a playdate. You could tell she didn’t want the night to end and either did I. So I told her I would text her mom and see if we could set up a playdate for Saturday. I get choked up even writing this because Skylar literally gave me the best Mother’s Day present ever and she doesn’t even realize it. I was able to see my little man gaze at her with his bright blue eyes and his dreamy face and hear his giggle when they would play in the ball pit & swim in the pool. It was the most perfect day if there ever could be one. We ate pizza and had cupcakes & Landon had pureed pancakes & cheesecake and his fav girl, Skylar by his side. So thank you Skylar for being you and loving my son. 4 years ago I made this video of the strongest little boy I know, Landon Timothy “Mr. Strong” Harrington 💙 I remember being so excited that he was discharged from the hospital the night before Mother’s Day ONLY to be readmitted 10 hours later for a total of 26 days combined in one month.
