Other than Sparshipping, are there any other Winx crack ships that tickle your fancy?
They don't have to be otps, just whatever else do you occasionally dabble in as a writer and a fan.
As far as ones I dabble in writing for…Bloom x Riven (#TeamRedheads) and Bloom x Jim from World of Winx are probably the two biggest. I just love putting Bloom with grumpy men. I think she makes them better.
And just ticking fancy? Sky x Brandon has always been a good one, because I am a sucker for childhood best friends to lovers ESPECIALLY! When you add in going against the establishment in the name of love. Solarflare as well, because genuinely I think Stella loves Bloom most after her parents. They’re platonic soulmates. And oddly enough, I’ve been getting kind of fond of the idea of Aisha x Sky lately, especially as a sort of backstory to the show where maybe they met as kids and almost ended up in an arranged marriage? Idk, there’s such good potential there.
“Look, I’m sorry to show up at your doorstep unannounced. I’ve got nowhere to go.”
Bloom offered Riven a polite smile, then realized he probably couldn’t see it - the thunderstorm had knocked the power out a half hour ago, and it wasn’t looking like it would be back for a while. “It’s fine,” she said instead, and turned to rummage in the linen closet by the door. She found what she was looking for and handed Riven an old, faded beach towel. “Here.”
Lighting flashed outside, and for a moment she could see him smiling. “Thanks.”
“Yeah. How far did you walk in this - you look soaked.”
“Transport station dropped me around Oceanside Boulevard, so...I don’t know, a few blocks?” Riven followed her from the entryway into the kitchen, where the candles she had set up earlier were burning brightly with Dragon Fire-infused flames. “I thought California was supposed to be all sun and surf, not this shit.”
“It’s monsoon season,” Bloom said lightly, turning to get a good look at him for the first time. The rain had ruined his hair, but besides that Riven looked mostly the same. Maybe even a little better. He carried himself differently - with more confidence. People always thought Riven was confident, but Bloom had come to realize it was nothing more than a carefully crafted facade. This, however, seemed different.
Under the weight of her gaze, Bloom saw him shift his weight, a little uneasy. “Mike and Vanessa?”
“Family wedding up in Oregon. It’s just me here.”
“I’ll have to write them an apology note for drenching their floors.”
Bloom smiled a little, but she could feel the awkwardness in the air. “Riven, it’s great to see you, don’t get me wrong...but what are you doing here? On Earth?”
“I told you I -”
“Didn’t have anywhere to go. But we both know that’s not really true. I know you’re still dorming at Red Fountain, and if you need someone there’s...”
She couldn’t finish the sentence. There were plenty of ways to finish it, but the most obvious one loomed over them.
Riven broke first, sighing as though he’d expected this line of questioning. “If I wanted to see Musa, I would have gone to see her. Same with Sky or the guys.”
“But you’re here.”
“But I’m here.”
Bloom wasn’t quite sure what to make of that - she only knew the flash of excitement in her chest was chased away almost as quickly by guilt. It wasn’t supposed to be like this - Riven was her friend, sure, but he wasn’t supposed to think of her above the Specialists. Not above Musa. And Riven doing so wasn’t supposed to make her feel so...satisfied. The girls would’ve made her talk about it.
But the girls weren’t here, and Bloom didn’t want to talk about it. “I think we have some beers in the fridge in the garage.”
And Riven smirked. “Let’s start with those, then.”
File this one under 'prompts I could totally turn into one-shots one day.' Some lovely #TeamRedheads to break up the flood of Sparxshipping prompts that'll be incoming
Drunk Liz is always a good time. Favorite non canon pairings? (Aside from Bloom/Valtor and Bloom/Jim)
(Does Bloom/Andy count as noncannon if they were dating pre-season? I do like them)
But ASIDE FROM THAT: Avalon and Palladium are in love, and you can take them from my cold dead hands. Bloom/Riven (tagged on my blog as TeamRedheads), Mirta/Lucy. Over in camp Rare!Pair is Layla/Matt from World of Winx (because im a slut for ‘god this guys an idiot’ to ‘o shit hes my idiot’), and Musa/Nabu, which I have half a fic plotted out for somewhere on my Google drive that will forever stay in limbo. I think they’d be chill for each other
“She’s been missing since Friday and you’re not worried?”
“Concerned, maybe. But not worried.” Sky pulled his shirt over his head and threw it into his clothes hamper in one smooth move. “Bloom goes off like this when she’s upset. It’s better to let her figure out her feelings herself rather than chase her down. Trust me.”
Riven, who had to bite his tongue to keep from giving a snarky remark, walked out of the prince’s room without saying anything else.
And then out in the hall, took his phone out and dialed a number. There was a long pause before it started ringing – long enough for Riven to get back to his own room in the Specialists shared dorm and close the door.
Finally: “Peters residence, this is –”
“So you’re back to taking off dramatically without telling the rest of us?”
The voice paused. “How do you know my home phone, Riven?”
That was a damn good question; when had Riven committed +2 949-555-2004 to memory? He didn’t even have his own father’s memorized; he just hit ‘dial’ from the contacts list.
“Stella gave it to me,” he finally said.
“Surprised she hasn’t tried the house yet, then. She and everyone else have been blowing up my cell phone.”
“Staying ahead of the curve then,” Riven smirked, and sat down on his bed. “You okay, Bloom?”
Another pause. There was a shaky breath on the end of the line. “I’m fine.”
“Like hell you are. I know what happened.”
“Then you should know I have to stay away!” Bloom snapped. “I messed up! I almost killed Flora because I was willing to believe anything some elementary school friend said to me. I can’t…” Bloom stopped short.
A memory of walking through the damp caves connecting Red Fountain to Alfea engulfs him. “You can’t man up and admit that was one oversight, and come back here to do what you’re supposed to do?”
Bloom took a shaky breath. “That’s not fair.”
“Maybe not, but I think it’s something you need to hear. I’m not Sky or Stella; I’m not gonna coddle you when you’re wrong just because you feel sad. You have a job to do and you’re capable of doing it, so cut the pity party and get back here! People need you.”
Riven was so close; so close to believing every word of that. Until ‘people.’ Until he tripped on it just enough that they both could see the underlying meaning.
It’s silent for some seconds. “Maybe they shouldn’t need me,” Bloom finally said, her voice soft.
He drums his fingers against the dark blue duvet. “Maybe they know that.”
“Riven, I…”
“Yeah?”
“I…will think about it, okay?”
Something in his chest shatters, not for the first time. “All right.”
This turned out super angst-y I’m sorry anon I’ll try and write happy Bloom/Riven at some point
Send a number and a pairing and I’ll write a drabble!
“You fainted…straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes.”
Let me guess, he’s expecting a still semi-conscious, confused-but-grateful fairy. I’ll show him.
With as much strength as Bloom could muster, She reached out and pushed Riven’s shoulder. It did nothing in terms of making him let go of her (which, as Bloom’s head began to clear, was to be expected), but it did get her annoyance across. “I’m f-fine. What’s going on? W-Where’d everyone else go?”
“Up ahead to see if there were any more of those plants.”
Curious, she turned to where Riven had jutted his chin. There were a tangle of vines crawling up the side of a tree, adorned with bright yellow flowers. The flowers, though, were coated in some sort of pollen.
“Flora recognized them as some kind of ingredient in sleeping spells. But that was about two seconds after you decided to bend down and smell them.”
The memory returned to her, though it was somewhat hazy. “And I...passed out?”
“Right into yours truly.” He smirked at her.
Bloom groaned. “I’m never gonna hear the end of this one, am I?”
“We aren’t, no. You should’ve seen the look on Sky’s face when Stella dragged him off with the rest of the group.”
She stared up into his eyes, which were glimmering with mischief. “You’re getting a real kick out of this, aren’t you?”
That smirk got wider. “Well am I the only one?”
Bloom tried to keep a smile off her face, but when she thought about it - leaning down to smell a flower and immediately falling right into Riven’s arms while everyone else stared in shock (and had Flora yelled? Bloom remembered someone yelled) or confusion - the image was...entertaining.
“See?” Riven said, and after a pause reached down to brush some leaves off the shoulder. “You feel okay though?”
That smile didn’t go away at his concern. “Yeah. No lasting effects, it seems.”
“Good. Because I’m gonna milk this for all it’s worth.”
“Huh? Riv-”
Before Bloom could finish she felt a hand sliding under her knees, and Riven stood up, still carrying her in his arms. “Make way, everyone, make way!” He called as they started moving along the trail towards the others. “Her Royal Highness and Miss “totally-didn’t-fail-magical-plants-and-properties-last-semester” coming through!”
She couldn’t help but laugh. “Riven! Put me down right now or I swear -”
But Riven didn’t listen. And part of Bloom was happy he didn’t.
Always love me some TeamRedheads. This is probably around early Season 2, but you imagine it wherever your heart desires.
Send me a number and a pairing and I’ll write a drabble!
