Life’s been crazy lately. And it’s mostly due to my own schedule: all the runs we can afford to make we’ve made... . Now, throw in a few hiccups here and there... . We were “smoothly” sailing through this summer. . I’m riding Avie better than ever; Cosmo is coming along nicely. Avie feels better than he has in years. . And then, when it rains it pours.... . My pickup attempts to quit me on our way to BBR Finals. Then the trailer batteries quit. Avie can’t catch his air in OKC. . Luna got hurt on the way down to OKC. . We head home. Regroup. . The pickup is out of the shop, back to running fine. . We go to Montana. Make clean runs on Saturday. Get to camp beside the Yellowstone river (it doesn’t disappoint). Make a great run on Cosmo Sunday morning in our high stakes race: and then... I rode Avie right into the third barrel. That was a $2,000 mistake. . Cosmo placed in her division though, so it wasn’t a total loss! . And on the way home from Montana the pickup...goes into limp mode. . Now, if you’ve been in limp mode you know what I’m taking about. If you haven’t.... well... you don’t get to go real fast. . This time it was stuck in fourth gear — while pulling a loaded trailer. . Today, we took her it to the shop. Let’s just say the news isn’t good. . I drew out of my barrel race this weekend, and I’ll unfortunately be staying home for a while. . My point in this “conversation” isn’t to elicit a “pooor Jenn” comment. It’s to say this: I firmly believe that all things happen for a reason. So I’ll stay home, start my 2 and 3 year old colts, keep working Avie and Cosmo and get better even while I’m not going down the road. .
