Rook Week 2026: Day 1 - Nightmare

The Archdemon roars, and Jerran understands the intent: Destroy. Eat. Spread the Beauty of the Mistress' Creation. The redness around him seems to explode and he emerges into an unfamiliar landscape with his fellow Darkspawn. Ichor clings to his throat; he chokes on it as he stands. Hungry. So hungry.

For Day 1 of @rookappreciationweek !

Every night, Jerran dreams of turning into a Darkspawn and spreading the Blight; after the events of Veilguard, the images evolve to reflect Ghilan'nain's minions. Sometimes his nightmares include traumatic instances from his past, interwoven with the Blight nightmares.

If he's lucky, he has Eleanor @a-mumbling-nerd to soothe his dreams with her Dreamer powers so he can get some rest.

Homecoming

This was insane considering I'm getting eye surgery next month, but my hyper-fixation wouldn't let this go.

A prequel/adjacent comic to @lunammoon and @so--whoonos ' fic, A Rage Brighter than the Sun , set before the Blood of Arlathan questline. This is a mix of my own head canon and various AU's.

It definitely isn't perfect, but I had a lot of fun experimenting with new angles and poses that I never would have used otherwise.

Kesper's character design is based on Dragon Age Inquisition's Bandit King concept by Matt Rhodes.

Tarian: Did we really have to take the ugly gold statue sitting on a pillar???

Jerran: Do you know how much beer we could pay with this thing?? We could probably buy an entire bar!

Tarian: .... I hate you. So much.

Tarian's armor is based on the Worn Armor at the beginning of Veilguard, but colored with Grey Warden colors.

Rook Week 2026: Day 6 - Revenge

Kyra’s eyes snap back to Jerran’s and she smiles that same smile that he once found so winsome and charming. No, not quite the same; the teeth now black and sharp, rotting from Blight.

When I saw the base in the cut below, I knew that Kyra and Jerran would be perfect.

In Rook!Jerran's story, Kyra is his fiancée who is ambushed and left to die to Darkspawn due to her squadron leader's incompetence before the events of Veilguard. Her death ignites Jerran's decision to disregard orders and drop a building on Darkspawn to save a village. He believes that she was turned into a Broodmother and the thought haunts him in the Prison of Regret.

In other AU's, Kyra turns into an Intelligent Darkspawn by Ghilan'nain much like the Architect in DAO: Awakening. Lured by Elgar'nan's promise to get revenge for all of the injustices that the Elves have suffered and that they will usher in a new world, she happily joins the fight. If only her former lover felt the same way.....

Rook Week 2026: Day 5 - Spirits

For Day 5 of @rookappreciationweek !

I struggled a lot with the day's theme, but I decided to base it off of one of the Emmrich romance scenes with @a-mumbling-nerd's Eleanor, who is a wisp expert.

(It's also my 10th wedding anniversary, so the comic seemed fitting!)
