I know there are a lot of people out there saying that he only won because he was white, or because he was cute, or because he always flirted with J-Lo.
Bottom line that boy can sing.
I went to college with him, literally sang in the same choir as him. Watched him perform at the MBSF. This is Trent. He didn’t make a showing just for votes, he was legit throughout the entire competition. Week after week he showed that he had a range on him, that he could take on challenges and wanted to keep pushing himself. He moved away from his comfort zones and actually took the judges advice. In the end more people just felt like Trent deserved the title. I know I’m biased because I’ve met him before but I do know that he is a genuine person.
It bugs me that people say La’Porsha didn’t win because she was black. I referred to her as the Adele of American Idol. She was a powerhouse and could belt out lyrics like it was the easiest thing in the world, but minus one song that’s all that she did perform. She could hit the notes and wow the crowd but she also stuck to the same sound week after week. Her back story was also a crowd pleaser, her baby is adorable! She was very very talented and I have no doubt in my mind that she is going to move on to better.
They are both very talented and I have no doubts that both of them are going to bigger things than Idol. This is the first season I’ve watched since the second season and I can tell you I was not impressed with it. Most of the performers were average at best and I called these two the finalist since they announced the top 24. I’m just so proud of Trent and La’Porsha, they were both a force to be reckoned with!
