tears of an angel
Areum was standing in front of the house and she hesitated. Everytime she stepped forward, she immediately pulled back because there was something that told her she shouldn’t go inside. But she had to. She decided to do it and she didn’t want to be someone who hides and avoids conflicts in case of saving herself. Their parents would get to know it anyways. It was better that she told them instead of others.
She sighed in deeply and grabbed the doorknob, pushing it down and entering her parents’ house. The aroma hitting her nose of freshly grilled meat told her that her mother was probably in the kitchen, so she headed to that place, still trying to figure out if that was a good idea. Although she still wasn’t sure about it, her legs were moving automatically and she ended up in the kitchen, facing her mother’s back.
Just like her mum would’ve felt her presence, she made a quick turn and got surprised when she saw her daughter standing in front of her. At first, Areum thought that she’ll might come and hug her or something but oh no, her mum’s legs were stuck to the floor and she didn’t get closer to her. Not a bit.
„Hi, mother.” She said which caused her mum’s lips to twitch and Areum didn’t know what that meant. She tried to look as humble as she could, avoiding every single opportunity to make her mum mad.
„Yah, Areum. Why are you here?” Her voice was like iron, tough and cold. Areum shivered.
„It’s good to see you too, mum.” She replied, trying to hide the edge to her voice. „I can’t even visit my mother now?”
„You can, but your mother doesn’t want to see you.” Areum’s light smile disappeared from her face in the minute she heard her mother’s words. They hit her right in her heart, creating a small, but deep hole in her chest. But your mother doesn’t want to see you.
She nodded and turned around to leave the house before her anger would completely fill her body but she shook her head and stopped. Areum looked back over her shoulder and gave her mother a poker face.
„You know, I’ve always thought you was the perfect mother. You had never skipped showering me with love until you knew that I’m gay. And it hurts, mum. It hurtrs that you ignore me only because of my sexuality. You’re childish and dumb. You know I’d never hurt you, mother, but this time I’ve had enough. I came here to tell you how happy I am with Jiyeon, but you surely don’t give a fuck about that. I wish dad would be here. I’m sick of your infantilism.” She said, her voice filled with absolutely no feelings as she left the kitchen and slammed the entrance door. Only when she arrived in the bus stop did tears start running down on her cheeks.
