Took a nice long walk at night today, here's my musings

The city sleeps but is still alive,

The silent swish of wind through the trees overhead drowned out by the distant roar of engines breaking the still night air

The gleaming red eyes of cameras watching diligently over their dark silent fortresses piercing the gloom

The small shadows darting along the edges of your vision, coaxing you to step into the path of motion lights just to vanish as soon as they are illuminated,

The city sleeps but is still quite alive,

The mindless musings of a lost individual, navigating their childhood streets blind with no guide

Finding the dark recessed paths snaking by a flowing creek, bustling by on its business

The odd headlight cutting through the gaps in the houses to light up the dark for a moment before moving on, returning home or off to their late night shift.

I could be one of those drivers, bummed about another day of work or vibing to some good tunes

Instead I walk these empty paths, knowing the path I tread is one that many do, even though I do not see them they are here.
