definitely do not watch him. Regardless of anything. Think about yourself first. If he makes you feel in any way bad about yourself, you life, or anything in general, you do not have to meet up with him. No matter what he says. Tell him that you can't meet up, either because you simply don't want to, or tell him that you have something else to do. Just, do what's best for you.
