The internet is full of futurists—
they consult machine-learning algorithms, ghosts in machines. Is this a subsuming of intuitive knowledge by analytical, mechanical reasoning?
Andrei Markov believed in predestination, and invented/discovered the Markov process as a rebutal to the theologian-mathematician Pavel Nekrasov who believed in self-determination. If we follow pre-destination to its source we will find the big bang. So are star gazers and astrologists logicians in all the way? The futurists of the past, and the futurists of the present differ in the amount of data and methods they are working with, but the structure of the reasoning is analogous.
