'Box'
By the Creators Project
'Box' explores the synthesis of real and digital space through projection-mapping on moving surfaces. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely in camera.
This Video in relation to assessment 1, portrays an idea I have come across in my brainstorming process; the use of technology as a medium in artistic practice. The video uses not only robotics, film, movement, but uses the box an an enigmatic device. The box contorts, twists, rotates, shutters, moves and uses the monochromatic colours of black and white to create an illusion of a box. The box, hence exceeds the ideal of being only used as a storage device, but in this confronting example is used as an art form and framework for this artistic group. The geometric significance in the shapes formed and the filmatic manipulation questions the function of boxes, and hence transforms its universal significance towards a contemporary audience. This box is not dull, nor universally recognized as the brown cardboard box we have grown to know, but instead represents something more persuasive.
