thanks to the power of the group chat it has been determined that tecteun and rassilon were actually married. this is the real reason why rassilon's wife isn't a well-known historical figure (she was a fellow conniving ass political figure and they tragically turned against each other after the revolution; she lost, left gallifrey, and was erased from history). this headcanon is also god tier because it would mean there is an argument to be made that rassilon is lowkey the doctor's stepdad, which is funny.

(they were also the first legally married same-sex couple on gallifrey after tecteun regenerated the first time #loveloses) (they're still technically married during the events of doctor who series 13 because they were both too stubborn to be the first to sign the damn divorce papers)

4 AM again, time to get esoteric and headcanon-laden. tecteun is older than rassilon (like, significantly older) (problematic age gap moment) and this is crucial to whatever the fuck they have going on. early on in their working relationship, tecteun thinks she's dealing with a stereotypical overly-idealistic young activist that she can groom into becoming her political weapon then kill once he's served his purpose of riling up the masses. rassilon knows tecteun thinks this about him and in turn thinks he's dealing with a stereotypical out-of-touch old person he can exploit as a connection then kill once she's served her purpose of getting him through the door of government. rassilon would insist that tecteun was absolutely NOT an influence on him, but the fact that they started working together when his age was still in the double digits and stayed colleagues for several centuries casts some doubt on that. when they were plotting to overthrow the government, they probably used the extremely obvious "oh, he's probably a gold digger" rumors as a cover story. like yeah that's definitely what's going on, we're totally not setting up a revolution, nothing to see here

in my head the tecsilon dynamic is like two people who are both deathly allergic to sincerity just kind of gradually getting more informal, then friendly, then downright physically affectionate with each other under the "well if they don't want me to kiss them then they can pull away. if they don't tell me to stop i'm just gonna assume it's fine." rationalization. but because they're both so scared of voicing any kind of Feelings TM they actually both genuinely appreciate the fact that they never have to say anything about their very obvious affection for each other. like rassilon would prefer tecteun just grab his hand without asking because if she did ask then he'd have to admit that he likes holding her hand and then it'd be a whole thing. as long as there's zero communication he has plausible deniability and could claim he was just putting up with her affection to be polite and of COURSE he never actually wanted to hold hands. and tecteun feels the exact same way, she's fine with rassilon casually draping himself over her lap like an attention-seeking cat but heaven forbid he ask if she wants him to do that because she'd rather shoot herself in the foot than admit that she feels anything for anyone. and then there's also an element of trying to assert dominance by shock value. tecteun casually puts her arm around rassilon's waist and he's just thinking obviously she wants me to get offended or startled, she's trying to catch me slipping, if i pull away she wins, but two can play that fucking game and returns the gesture. no communication no informed consent just Gay Chicken But It's Not Even Always Gay Because They're Both Genderfluid Shapeshifters. affection chicken? sincerity chicken? anyway an outside observer would just see a very obvious Couple of time lords being unusually affectionate with each other.

the point is they're both the same genre of extremely not normal and they enable each other sooooo bad

in my mind the tecsilon dynamic is like, two deeply manipulative people who start working together because they're both thinking "oh yeah i can use this dumbass to carry out my plans. then get rid of em when they've outlived their usefulness of course." but then they accidentally both get like, really attached. but crucially neither of them will ever admit to genuinely caring about each other. mutual "obviously i'm gonna kill this guy someday when the time comes" but ✨somehow✨ the time never seems to come.

they'll be over here co-parenting their respective kids after the revolution, being gallifrey's ruling power couple in all but name, still going "we're just coworkers we don't even like each other" til the end.

constantly getting the urge to fandompost about tecteun and rassilon and their batshit insane dynamic, like they're an actual pairing that makes sense to post about, then remembering that their canon "dynamic" is "they stood beside each other for like 2 seconds in one shot of one episode and have had zero canon dialogue" and i completely made up the batshit insane dynamic. in my head. man

ultimate tecsilon propaganda is that it would be really fucking funny because can you imagine how the doctor would feel. like it's bad enough the doctor has to deal with the fact that tecteun of all people is their mom (in a sense), but now they have to deal with the fact that rassilon of all people has legitimate grounds to make "i did your mom lol" jokes. just an all around nightmare scenario, really
