What were your thoughts behind the catchall name "Kaleva" for the Other 🤔
And what do think was the reason behind Rassilon joining the military to fight in the Vampire Wars (assuming we're talking about the pre-revolution war timeline) surely it couldn't have just been patriotism?
On the name Kaleva: So my first thought was "I don't think I can pull off not giving them a proper name, it just won't work with my writing style," so I had to give them A Name. I was originally calling them Thaxa, which is not a real name and means nothing but (a) sounds cool and (b) is similar to Theta, but then I stumbled across someone else calling them Thasia(? iirc) and realized I might come off as ripping off that person. So then I decided that whatever name I assign to this character should have some sort of Character-Appropriate Meaning, and just started looking through random names on behindthename.com until it ultimately came down to either (a) Cardea (Roman goddess of thresholds and change), or (b) Kaleva (Finnish; name of the mythological ancestor of the Finnish people, but the original name meaning is unknown). Went with Kaleva because it sounds cool and felt thematically appropriate on a few levels (even though the Time Lords do not seem to be particularly Finnish).
On Rassilon joining the military: I think it was at least partly patriotism, especially since the timeline I go with has the war starting when Rassilon was really young, so all that wartime propaganda is the kinda stuff he would have grown up with. There could also have been an element of wanting to break the military glass ceiling as well; someone has to show the world that men can fight wars just as well as women! I think there's a solid chance he would have enlisted even if Tecteun wasn't in the picture... ...But Tecteun and the Neo-Technologists were a big factor. They were planning a revolution, but there was just no way they were going to be able to pull that off with the war still raging in full force. And the space fleet way out at the war front didn't have much communication with the Homeworld, so if Tecteun and her team fucked off to the front to try and end the war, they'd also be able to plot a coup away from the eyes and ears of the government. Rassilon, being part of Tecteun's squad by this point, was included in this "we all have to fuck off to the war front now lol" plan. And also Rassilon probably liked the optics of being half of Gallifrey's first married military couple.
(with unconstrained lust and heart shaped pupils) hey. I liked your wordplay.
started headcanoning that rassilon went to prison at some point before the revolution as a half-joke but now it's just an unironic headcanon. like in that kind of political environment surely any activist and shit-disturber worth their salt had to have done time right
once again bored at work, anyone wanna send asks 👀

Yayyy birthday
crashout over i'm thinking about ancient gallifreyan theology again
(508th pythia voice) our age of magic is collapsing
um hey thats not fair. Adric died holding the belt of his dead brother for comfort as he exploded. i am not ok. the the episode ended in silence with a frame of his destroyed star for mathematical excellence...
hey guysss so unfortunately the rumors are true and im leaving the narrative. Buttt the good news is my absence will create such a gaping hole in your lives that it will become a sort of presence itself, and so in a way it will kind of be like i never left! But i am. Leaving just to be clear.
if you had the money/time/resources to bring your OC’s story to life, what medium would you choose?
a book/book series
a comic book/graphic novel
a webcomic
a tv show/cartoon
a movie
a play/musical
an album
a video game
I don’t have any original characters
Everyone clap for non consensual body modification everybody loves a character whose body has been altered against their will
how many times do you think members of the deca acknowledged the emptiness left by millennia and rallon's loss. how many times were their names on the tip of a tongue before the speaker realised something was missing.
after the deca disbanded, do you think they thought of each other?
has the rani ever felt the urge to share her experiment results before realising there was nobody left to listen and understand her? has the doctor looked up from his tardis console, expecting to see two people operating the other side, only to see his companion there looking at him confused? did the master ever turn to the side, ready to whisper a trouble-making idea conspiratorially, only to find he was standing alone? did vansell ever miss when he had equals, rather than subordinates to order around?
what level of fictional society obsession is it when you have headcanons about what the most common disordered eating habits would be in a specific alien society
anyway. niche headcanon time: The Eating Disorder Of Rassilon. he wouldn't fit the criteria for anorexia, because his food issues have nothing to do with weight or body image issues at all; they have to do with issues around having a body. rassilon, obsessed with control as he is, does not take kindly to the notion of "physiological needs." he sees going without food as a matter of willpower, resilience, superiority compared to those lowly creatures who are governed by their primal urges and instincts...and he sees eating when he's hungry as basically conceding that there are aspects of his own existence that he can't control.
on top of that, the way time lords "digest" the biodata of any organic material they consume became something of a PTSD trigger for rassilon after his (partial?) vampiric infection; when he does eat, he has a tendency to purposefully eat stuff with as little organic material in it as possible. he'll eat straight plastic before he'll eat meat. this is barely more nutritious for a time lord than for a human.
the "restrictive eating disorder tied to the time lord superiority complex" is what i think would be the most common type of disordered eating on gallifrey. as a society of shapeshifters, time lords would be a bit less inclined to develop weight loss culture and/or diet culture in general, but they sure would develop "material self-deprivation is actually what makes us better than animals" culture. which is probably rassilon's fault
