What do you think of Draco’s actions in HBP and DH in relation to when Dumbledore said “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy”? Do you think what he was doing was right because it was protecting his parents or was it easy because he could have asked for help? It probably isn’t a yes vs no type answer but I’m curious to hear what other people think :)
Idk, this is just like Hermione’s memory modification on her parents. Draco was a child and he was doing what he thought was right. Of course with Draco he was under way more pressure and in a lot more danger than Hermione was. He was branded a death eater, he always wanted to be one, but I think when he finally got into the circle, he realized that he didn’t want that life anymore. But he was being threatened directly by the dark lord, he has seen things that no one else has, and he knows what Voldy can do. And then you have his father, who Draco idolizes, how can Draco back down knowing that by being a death eater, he will get his father’s approval, and get his father back into Voldy’s good graces?
Its an impossible decision to make. He was also brought up to think of Dumbledore as a fool and that their side was the wrong side, even if he is starting to see the dark side as the actual wrong one, how can Draco trust Dumbledore?
Again, he was just a child, or as his mother puts it “Just a boy”. He, and everyone else, was doing what they thought was the right thing, the thing that will allow them to live another day in the war that they should have never been a part of.
