Thinking about how Raichu has been done kinda dirty by most of the Pokemon series. I mean, by itself, it’s a pretty dang good Electric type. The problem is that it’s in competition with other Electric types, and in every generation it appears in, it’s outdone by a Pokemon that evolves by the exact same method. Jolteon runs circles around it in terms of stats and movepool, meaning that if Raichu does see use in a team, it’s because the player either wanted a different Eeveelution or stubbornly chose it for sentimental reasons. Not only that, it’s constantly overshadowed in popularity by its pre-evolution. Poor guy’s been getting the Luigi treatment for years, and even WITH a regional variant in Alola, he’s still underappreciated. Our favorite electric chonker deserves better than this.
