Teddy was who Veneticus was before being brainwashed by the Island and used as the Host btw—and Veneticus also doesnt know of any societal concepts due to having his memory of everything before coming to the Island erased. So he doesnt know what romance or dating culture is—but when he learns about it from another person he happens to let into his Island (and who ends up dying at some point)—he decides he wants to try it out, and he decides Michael is going to be his 'lover'. Michael isnt uninterested or anything, but it is definitely very obvious how little Veneticus actually knows about romance in general with how hes behaving (since hes just doing what he was told by the person that explained it to him, like embraces of affection, love confessions, gestures of affection in general like hand holding or kissing, etc etc). (Michael does eventually kinda date him though? It definitely is a bit irregular compared to human relationships though—since Vene is a brainwashed human with absolute power over whoever he lets into his Island, and Michael is an eldritch entity who eats people through doors.)
When Veneticus is interested in something despite knowing nothing about it though, he'll immediately try to do it himself out of wanting fun or just being curious. Thats kind of why he kidnaps Willow, Jonathan's cousin—because he was told what friendship was, and like any other normal does, he decided to kidnap her and forcibly make her his 'companion' and just hung out with her or did activities with her based on what the person who told him about friendship explained.
(And most people on Veneticus' Island die due to being so desperate to escape from him that they forget to care for themself and die of things like thirst or overheating etc etc. Or they die WHILE trying to escape from him. There are also cases where they have died from worse, but I wont get into it. He isnt ever really responsible for their deaths himself though—the Island itself is usually behind any PURPOSEFUL deaths of people who come there.)
Since Doorkeay (Michael x Gerard) is a really popular ship in the fandom, I did a joke sketch or two of them both being shipped in a poly relationship with Veneticus./lh
TWS FOR SPIRALS, ANALOG HORROR/UNCANNY VALLEY TYPE FACES, MANIPULATION, PARENTAL ABUSE AND NEGLECT, BRAINWASHING, KIDNAPPING, TORTURE, EATING PEOPLE, BOUNDARY CROSSING (ON PURPOSE), SEIZURES, ETC.
I unironically think it'd be funny but perfect? Michael is there to indulge in some of his assholery with him—and even helps him out whenever he has yet again brought someone to his Isle, or wants someone to leave his Isle. But, will stand up if Vene tries to manipulate hin or anything. While Gerard will easily recognize manipulation from Vene (since he has been used by his mother for years), and will firmly stand up to him no matter what—which would slowly discourage Vene from pushing if he kept standing up to him over and over.
Both would be good for Vene.. in their own way./lh
(Also Teddy Walkers and Michael Shelley have similar stories, since Teddy got brainwashed by the Island and turned into Veneticus due to it, while Michael was eaten and turned into the Distortion. While Gerard was used and then eventually succumbed to a seizure. They all have a bunch of parallels together due to their theme of being used or influenced somehow, and could easily understand eachother./lh)
Bonus sketch—
I could do a doodle page for these three? Maybe later though./lh
Little sketch of Teddy and Vene!! (Will do agere headcanons over the weekend since I'll have more time then, and I have a little assignment to do when I get home anyway.. will do more sketches like this to flesh Willow AND Teddy/Vene out a little more tho. /lh)
Doodle page of Teddy!! Since I wanted to talk more about who Vene was before he became like.. you know, that.
TWS FOR KIDNAPPING, BRAINWASHING, IMPLIED ABUSE/MISTREATMENT, POSSIBLE DEATH OF FAMILY, SLIGHTLY CREEPY EXPRESSIONS, BRUISES, MEMORY LOSS OR SLOW LOSS OF MEMORY, ETC.
Also—The Magnus Archives (in my AU) focuses more on Willow, and her backstory and stuff to do with her character. While The Magnus Protocol focuses on Teddy/'Veneticus', how he became the way he did, etc etc. Though the question of if he somehow manages to escape the Island and finally break free of his brainwashing is the question, since he does kidnap Sam at some point in TMP due to his fate in both universes not being all that different (the only difference in the Magnus Protocol universe is that hes not dead and never dies at any point during the story—at least right now—I'm unsure if maybe he should be broken free of his brainwashing and imprisonment in this universe—or if he should die since he is still an asshole as Veneticus here. He also never kidnapped Willow here—so shes happy and living peacefully in a shared apartment with someone—possibly with Tim if hes not dead? Or lived with someone, since Jon is apparently dead in the Magnus Protocol universe.)
Teddy also probably WOULD have felt terrible for everything he did if he was ever unbrainwashed, but would have enough maturity to know that even if he feels terrible, he should do the right thing for anyone alive who he mistreated, and leave them alone/keep a distance from them. But, he would mainly be busy trying to cope with being gone for so many years, and his family likely being dead by now.
(Even if he does feel bad for how he acted though, he is not being erased completely of his actions while brainwashed here, so if he WERE to be let go at any point, he'd have to take full responsibility and accountability for the awful things he did since he still did it./srs)
(If he is left alone though, or just killed—possibly by Sam, that would also be befitting since he probably isnt going to even try taking accountability or changing/growing as a person while he is the Host for Desolatus/The Isle—and would deserve being killed in that matter since he's not even gonna try changing anyway.)
But, either way, what should his fate in the Magnus Protocol universe be? Should he die at someones hands like Willow killed him in the Magnus Archives universe, left alone after Sam leaves his Island and barely brought up again, or possibly freed from the Island at some point somehow and broken free of his brainwashing?
He should die like he does in the Magnus Archives Universe.
He should be left alone after Sam escapes the Island.
A concept for if Sam from the Magnus Protocol met Veneticus? And also if Veneticus was in the Magnus Protocol (more details below).
And this isnt OC x Canon,.but Veneticus IS canonically really pretty, so thats why Sam kinda blushes at him in one of the panels./lh
TWS FOR SUICIDE (MENTIONS OF IT), KIDNAPPING, MURDER, BEING TRIGGERED, BRAINWASHING, ETC.
Light-hearted bonus:
So, Willow canonically kills Veneticus in the Magnus Archives during season 5 due to feeling so enraged from everything he did to her for 7 years that she comes back—and ends up killing him due to him triggering her. However, a thing about the Isle of Desolatus is that.. it works in odd ways—and is so ancient and mysterious that it is somehow still there in the Magnus Protocol (though people and entities in this universe dont really know of it at all, unless they happen to be people who Veneticus kidnapped—but most of those people are either too traumatized to talk about it or are dead.) And, yes, Teddy (who Veneticus was before being brainwashed) is still taken to the Island during the 60s, is brainwashed and made into the Host for the Island, and becomes Veneticus. And he is not dead in the Magnus Protocol universe. He, at some point, kidnaps Sam—though Sam obviously manages to escape somehow (like maybe Celia saves him, or he happens to drop down there when he does manage to eacape the Magnus Archives universe finally—but drops down there and has to be saved and taken back into the Magnus Archives universe since they know of Veneticus and dont want Sam to be trapped there with him even if its just an Alternate Version of him).
Either way, Veneticus wont let Sam leave, and seems determined to keep him more out of intrigue rather than wanting friendship at first. Though, it gradually turns into that after a while even if Veneticus doesnt really understand friendship that much in this universe. And Sam slowly becomes more scared of him and desperate to escape, but is saved after a few days of being there.
Either way, I cant really decide if I want Willow in the Magnus Protocol universe to be dead (due to possibly implied suicide while on Desolatus) already and canonically kidnapped by Veneticus still, or if she should have never gone to the Island in this universe and be healthier than she is in The Magnus Archives—so what would be better for the story?
Willow should already be dead.
Willow should be alive, and have never gone to the Island.
New addition to Vene's story—he literally curses Willow to never be able to forget him, the Island, and all of what he did to her (both as a threat since he knows she may try to come back to him and a 'reminder of their friendship'.)
(Also, serious question below—like, VERY serious. So please be cautious. I just wanted to know what his type of behavior toward her could be classified as so I know how to properly describe it when writing about it and drawing stuff for it. Like, even the people I tagged—please be careful while reading the warnings./gen)
TW FOR ABUSE (LIKE, JUST IN GENERAL—A LOT OF DIFFERENT TYPES ARE LISTED), NEGLECT, EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION, TRAUMA, ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR, MANIPULATION, POWER DYNAMICS, ETC.
What would his behavior toward Willow be considered?
