plain and simple, at the end of the day he was happy to not be picked. maybe it was all too far fetched and trying to force himself to be someone else. but it was also exhilarating to sit on the edge of his seat and not be picked so he bounced over to teddy and draped an arm around him, leaning in to kiss him deeply the second it was all over. ‘i’m glad it wasn’t us.’
“I bought red vines,” Calla said, holding up the packet, as the door was opening. “I mean, they’re mostly for me but I might be persuaded to share. I also bought a pizza which is to share.” She spoke with a smile but it was obvious the smile wasn’t quite genuine. Calla knew how close Teddy and Devon had been and was concerned for her friend. It didn’t help that Calla felt somewhat guilty. She didn’t have anything to do with Devon’s death but the note had tied her into the events of that night. “I also stole this,” Calla said holding up an expensive bottle of champagne.
