he’s kind of a whole new character all together!!
he was a 35ish year old espionage specialist set in the late ‘60s who was lowkey a sad, religious, closeted drunk who loved theater, and chickens, and minding other people’s business. he had a younger!verse where he was just a struggling, travelling boy panhandling and trying find money to properly educate himself, and stayed away from the streets but getting into theater. he had a huge crush on his tutor because of course he did. he struggled horrendously in school and was an awkward, lanky fuck. he grew to be a very flashy guy with a deep, soulful voice, ability to get to know people and loved poetry. he was a well meaning asshole. we called him carlton.
his major problems was the fact that he was a black man in the sixties fighting as a mercenary that not many favored, despite being part of team support. he was a bit of an alcoholic, and he he struggled with his sexuality and his spiritually, often times hating himself for not having 100% straight thoughts and actions, and wishing he can atone for people he murdered and those he kills every day, even though they came back. He grew to be a spiritual agnostic that just acknowledges on his past sins and sees his work/day murdering as a job, since it is, and no one gets killed for good. He comes to terms with his bisexuality, but isn’t openly out, on account of it being the late 60s, and drinks less.
and what do you know, teddy is now a 14 year old, 5 foot 10 inch boy, still a lanky, awkward fuck who’s embarrassed about his interests in theater and music, and is a christian who and hes going to stress about being not straight (tm) and get relief that you can be queer and part of the church, who has/had big aspirations because he’s determined perserverant to go on and do big things. he loves making stories and writing poetry and sometimes says rude shit to others because /he/ grew stronger by proving people wrong and think that they’ll improve like he did in the same matter, but learns to adapt and use his words as better enforcement/encouragement
and hes gonna get an arc about struggling with change and sexuality, as teens do, because i gotta make him suffer, #relatablesuffering and learn that others have strengths and weaknesses that arent like his but he can still work with others and not push ideals on them, or hold them to the rigid standards he holds himself. he’ll learn about the power of suggestion and words, both words said and unsaid, and how they can hurt and heal people. and learn tons of magic relating to purple magic. He’ll learn to accept his secret passions and indulge others in the myraid of information he knows through his stories and magic notebook.
teddy/carlton is/was my problematic fav who deserves better but also needs to get punched in the face atleast once
