Wonderful. A stupid chemistry project in pairs. As if it wasn’t bad enough having to put up with any of his colleagues during the usual classes, now Derek would have to meet one of them outside the school.
The teenager sighed and rolled his eyes when teacher Harris started to sort the pairs for the project. The rest of the class hated when they weren’t allowed to choose their pair, but that made no difference to Derek. It’s not like he had any friend he would like to do this project with. After the fire in his house last year, he scared all his friends away. Or was it they who walked away? Well, it didn’t matter. It’s not like Derek missed them, anyway. At least, he preferred to think he didn’t.
I just hope I don’t get paired with one of those empty-headed assholes from the lacrosse team, Derek wished silently in his thoughts.
And his wish was answered… Partially. Harris called his name first, and then… Stiles Stilinski. He was from the lacrosse team, but he wasn’t a first-team player, which meant he probably wasn’t very empty-headed.
Derek looked around the class and his eyes stopped at the boy seating beside Scott McCall. That one was Stiles, right?
Another sigh. Derek grabbed his backpack and left his seat, walking towards Stiles and occupying the seat Scott left empty when he was to join his own partner for the project.
Then, bored as hell, Derek looked at Stiles.
“So. Are you free this afternoon?”
