I’m not really sure what went wrong, or why Neah chose Allen as his next host, but that’s a different rabbit trail...” The way she skidded around the subject of Neah hinted that there was more to the story than what she had shared, and if the tension in the room hadn’t been enough, there was now a heavy silence that seemed to fill the space around them.
The young girl spoke with a hint of uneasiness in her voice, something most people wouldn’t pick up on. “That’s everything. The family's history, including Neah and Mana. Any questions?” Although she had asked the question, her facial expression warned against asking questions that were too specific.
It was no secret Road had some untold history with Neah, anyone with a brain and common sense could connect the dots as to why she was so fond of Allen Walker from the very start and why she never talks about Neah for very long. It’s a secret very well kept between Road and the Earl, even if Sheryl was starting to catch on. You’d never catch her alive admitting that it scares her that her family was catching on, but what scared her more was the fact that Neah was making a comeback.
