The one creature stirring (I think I may hang that card up in my kitchen, over the KitchenAid) is from Ishmael aka @mooseman13579 -- the kittens say hello and thank you! @traykor sent me the fun glittery blue Season’s Greetings, and @tehcoah sent me the glittery reindeer Season’s Greetings, both lovely; Tehcoah, I’m so glad you enjoy Trace so much! 

The dinosaur Santa -- IS t-rex santa trying to eat his reindactyls? Who can say? -- is from @yannrens, and I have definitely petted Deebs and Dot in your honor :) The wonderful red and green flowers card, supporting the Breast Cancer Network Australia, is from @amelioratrix -- thanks for the good wishes! The city postcard of downtown Toronto is from @booksnchocolate -- thank you for being such a loyal reader, and I’m glad I could be such a positive influence for you! 

The cardinals card (CARDinals!) is from @celtprincess13 and I have to say I’m so glad so many people included Deebs and Dot in their holiday wishes :D @fyrasha sent the three of us the gorgeous glittery kittens-and-books card, and in the middle there, and the fun Avengers-logo card in the middle is from @hddnone -- don’t think I didn’t notice the pun in “Have a marvelous time of year” :D

How many jobs have you had, and which was your favorite? 

Oh man, 17 I think?  My favourite was probably when I was at University I used to look after the computer labs (fix problems and answer questions) before and after hours and on weekends.  I got paid to sit around and do work/fuck around on the internet.  This was in the 90s, so everyone where I lived only had dial up at home, so if you wanted to hang out online for hours, Uni was the place to be.  (Bonus answer: my least favourite?  tied the one where I worked in film post-production (as an IT geek), long hours, impossible demands, shit money because everyone wanted to work in film, plus full of dudes who didn't know you could do IT work if you didn't have a penis; and the one where I worked as a cleaner, and one of my "regular" jobs was cleaning the toilets at a gay bar ;)

Did you ever own “designer jeans”? 

Nope, not even close.  I didn't own any jeans that weren't from thrift stores or the very cheapest ones Kmart sold.  My family spent a lot of time living at or below the poverty line.  Now I could afford them, but they no longer have the cachet they did in the 80s.  Right now I am wearing some Pajama Jeans, does that count? ;)

How many places (towns, states, countries) have you lived in?

21 or so towns.  4 states (if you count English counties as a state).  3 countries (England, Australia, USA - so nowhere interesting)

Do you have a recipe for that?

It's loose :D Enchiladas are one of my favourite casserole-ish dishes to make because they're very flexible. 

So what I do is make a pan of McCormick Enchilada Sauce mix, and pour a little into the bottom of a glass pan. You can use any enchilada sauce as long as it's pretty thick. Then I put down a layer of tortillas, covering the bits between tortillas with ripped up tortilla.

Then I mix about half a cup of sauce with a can of refried beans and about 1/2 pound of cooked ground beef. I layer this mixture, tortillas, sauce, and then more of this mixture until I run out of something, then I top it with what sauce is left and a ton of shredded cheese; if it's not salty cheese, top with some salt and pepper. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is gold and bubbly. 

You can use other fillings -- rice instead of refried beans, some other protein or meat substitute instead of ground beef, add in peppers or sweet potato or whatever you like, really. Just make sure you use plenty of sauce. :D

"And this," Rocket holds up the complicated tangle of struts and wires, "Is the Hadron Enforcer." He pats it proprietally, like a proud parent, and adds, "This is for blowing up moons." 

Bucky's eyes widen.

"I wanna try it."

"Good man." Rocket hands it over, then scurries up onto Bucky's shoulder and pulls down his goggles. "But remember, safety first."

My boss. My branch manager. Shelving. Patrons who declare “I pay taxes, therefore I should be able to do [x]!”

5: A song that needs to be played LOUD

I gotta say, I turn up the volume on so many songs… Hitchin’ A Ride by Green Day stands out a bit, though, because I love it when the bass on that song shakes my windows. Burn the Witch by QOTSA is too, for the same reason.

6: A song that makes you want to dance

Again, many songs! But right now… Problem by Natalia Kills. Badass. And not gonna lie, if I wasn’t at work right now, it would be dirty dancing…

#16 Sam and Bucky

Questioning

This isn't right. Sam knows what the Winter Soldier is. He's something dangerous, a force of nature, unstoppable. This man is shrunken in on himself, with big, wounded bambi-eyes and a hollow look, as if he's been gutted. 

It was easy to hate the Winter Soldier. This guy? This guy's too pathetic to hate.

Sam watches him warily, as he sits slumped at the counter.

The things he does for Steve, goddamn.

"You want coffee?" 

A nod. Sam makes it black, no sugar, a dash of cream- he figures this guy isn't in too good a place for questions right now- and slides it over. It's a good call, anyway, cause it gets picked up and drunk fast enough.

"So you're Bucky Barnes, huh?"

The name's important. Sam's seen guys lose themselves before. The name's what brings you back. The man shrugs into his coffee. Silence, too, is something Sam knows.

Silence, he can work with.

"I'm Sam Wilson, but then you already knew that." He sips his own coffee, thinks. "You must've missed a lot, huh. You curious about it at all?"

Another shrug. Not indifference, so much, he thinks, as fear. Fear of returning to normal, because normal demands answers to questions Bucky doesn't want to answer. Sam nods, and gets out his iPod.

"Well, I'm not gonna leave until you've at least listened to this, alright?"

Trouble Man. Yeah, it's been done. But if it works for Steve, maybe it'll work for his buddy, too.
