Everything in between.

I was waiting outside the stage door for Gracie to come out. I was in a group with other fans, but no one knew we were dating. She hasn’t come out as bisexual yet, and I’m letting her do it on her own terms. Only because I know what it was like to come out, and for me at least, I had a supportive mom, but my dad kicked me out. I had heard my mom argue with him for a week straight to not abandon me. I was 17 then, I’m 22 now. Gracie’s career is just taking off with her first album Good Riddance. She’s 24.
I saw the door open and fans went wild. I smiled softly as she looked my way, she made direct eye contact and I waved. She nodded at me.
“Omg she noticed you?!”
An excited fan said next to me, she was practically vibrating with excitement knowing Gracie could come over here anytime.
“Yeah, omg is this real?!” I said trying to match the fans' tone. To blend in.
She laughed and we saw Gracie sign albums, shirts, anything fans could hand her. She took her sunglasses off and walked over to our section.
“Hey guys! How’s it going?” Her voice was a mix of adrenaline and care.
She signed a few albums, made conversation and somewhere along the way she had held my hand. Not gently, possessive. Like she was trying to shield me from whatever could possibly happen.
“You’re gonna get us caught” I whispered just enough so only she could hear me.
She smirked a little.
“Maybe I wanna get caught” she whispered back, and started talking to another fan like nothing happened.

Back at the hotel we were getting ready for bed, I was showering while she was writing in her journal.
“Babe?”
I called out, over the stream of water.
“Yeah, what's up?” she gently yelled back.
“I love you”
I yelled at her.
“I love you too honey, is that all you wanted to say?”
I smiled gently letting the hot water run over my face. “Yeah, just letting you know, in case you forgot”
“We’ve been dating for a year and saying I love you for 6 months, I think I know”
“Yeah well sometimes when you write you go into a spiral and think I don’t love you somehow.”
She didn’t respond. I heard footsteps and saw her walk in. wearing my long marvel t-shirt and her shorts.
“Do you just remember every little thing about me?” she said with a teasing smirk to her.
“Hard not to, when I’m the one calming you down from panic or anxiety attacks, sweet girl”
“Get out of the shower and come cuddle me idiot”
She walked away and I smiled as I shut the water off. “Yes ma’am”
I replied even though she was gone already.
I walked into the bedroom and Gracie was lying on her side staring at the wall. Her eyes flickered to me when I walked in.
“You’re late”
She said flatly.
“My apologies Professor Abrams”
“Get a shirt on and come over here doofus”
I grabbed my pajama shirt and put it on, making my way over to the bed. I got in next to her, and she migrated to rest her head on my shoulder. I wrapped an arm around her and held her hand with the other.
“You okay?” I asked softly into her hair.
“Mhm, just tired” she replied
“Then sleep, I got you” I kissed her forehead, and she looked up and kissed me on the lips. Before settling back down.
Just before her breathing evened out, I leaned down gently.
“You did good out there”
She smiled and I held tighter. Once it was confirmed she was asleep I shut off the lamp and the room faded into a dark space again.
