SOOOOOOO I did goto Bronycon 2017. I would’ve made a “Going to Bronycon” post, but the story behind this was that I was kicking myself all week for not making plans to go. And on Thursday, I simply decided “screw it I’m going” and drove up Friday morning! Next year I will plan better haha.
But holy moly am I glad I went! I met up with a lot of great artists and folks I’ve interacted online with over the years. The pictures above are from:

Running a bit long, but I’m really thankful to who I met... There were so many nice people I shared small chats with that really boosted the whole experience too. Thank you to everyone I met and anyone I might be forgetting for making the whole experience amazing this year! This was easily the best Bronycon... Hek, best convention I’ve been to ever!

tehflah's Sanctuary turned 5 today!
So yesterday, Feb. 26th, was the 5 year anniversary of this art endeavor known as tehflah’s Sanctuary. I made this blog the day after my birthday because I was kinda having a bad time at the time and needed a change in my life. Originally the plan was to have this as a moderator blog for an ask blog, which... Just never really panned out. But all the same, it’s allowed me to be creative again and learn (or try to learn haha), digital media. Before the blog, I very sporadically drew in a sketchbook and never really shared anything on the internet.
It’s been very helpful to get back into something creative again, and to share it with all of you lovely people. Thank you all for sticking with me on this journey, and for all the interesting, thoughtful, super nice, hilarious and clever comments that you send my way. I read and appreciate all of it, trust me! <3 And every bit of it helps me continue drawing for you all.
As for the future, I’m not sure what is next. Probably more technicolor horses. I don’t really see that changing anytime soon. I have a few ideas of things coming down the pipe, but you’ll just have to wait and see! :b
Spoiler, it’s horses. :V

What are your thoughts on batponies, anyway? Batponies mostly seem to just be employed by Luna, not given genesis by her.
Oh yeah definitely. That’d be kinda weird if she was the sole source of the batpony epideMIC SWEEPING THE NATION. :V But no seriously.
I’d like to think Batponies have always existed. Perhaps they were a genetic or evolution offshoot of pegasi at one point long, long ago. Haven’t thought about the ancient past too much.
I kinda like the idea that they live in deep caves, with elaborate homes built into the sides of open cavern surfaces with dim lighting, but a warm, homely feel about it. Given that they live in caves, the other pony races would probably rarely bump into them, and when they did, it really wasn’t much of a problem. The batponies probably wouldn’t be excessively friendly like the other ponies, but they wouldn’t be terribly opposed to visitors either. Probably curious more than anything.
A special case though, would be the more immediate batponies of Canterlot Mountain. Which would have been there since Canterlot’s inception. They would have had a lot more time nearby the other pony races. Still keeping to themselves however, just that a visitor to their caves would hardly be a special event. I’d think that these batponies could be seen sometimes in Canterlot at night as well, maybe exploring the nightlife, or under Canterlot speakeasies or clubs. The city of Canterlot and the batponies of Canterlot Mountain (of course they wouldn’t be called this, perhaps they’d even called the mountain something else!) would have a fairly stable relationship.
I’d also think that Celestia at some point or another tried to locate all of the batpony colonies to try to unite them or something, but they declined. However, they did agree to be allies with the other pony races, they just would rather keep existing in their own townships. Perhaps they send envoys back to Canterlot on occasion to keep friendly relations or even send traders to bring goods back to their homes. Main exports from batpony towns would be exotic foodstuffs, strange deep cave herbs/flora, and jewelry/trinkets. The relationship between ponies and batponies would be stable and friendly, just distanced.

True. True. I don’t think I’d go side blog with it though, I’m not THAT ashamed of the quality. I think a lot of it stems from things that I’m not sure if I want to return to. I don’t really like posting wips (works in progress) pictures. I’ve always felt it diminishes the effect of the final product a lot. So if there’s any chance that I might return to something, my will to post anything about it drops by a billion percent. SEKRETZZZZ. I dunno. I suppose I should be a little more free about this.
I suppose I could post the sketch lines of things I do finish if that’s a thing people are interested in though?

If ponies say “Oh my Celestia” as a reference to omg, then would batponies say “Oh my Luna?”
Similarly, before Luna returned, do you think think they would still revere her name in such a fashion?

It’s never a bother anon, I’m always happy to get asks! I was actually a bit stunned because it’s been well more than a year since I’ve received a message from an anonymous user. And, I don’t think anyone has ever asked me this! So without further adoooooooo…
(9.9) - Rarity: The character I feel like I relate to the most through the artistic struggle. Fashion pon probably gets the most laughs from me. Her range of expressions almost always gets me to laugh.
(9.5) - Twilight Sparkle: The character I actually relate to the most. I don’t share the same obsession with books, but I share a bit of her train of thought and a lot of her quirks.
(9.0) - Applejack AKA Agent APPULZ: Dependable, and the voice of straightforward reason. I dunno, I like her character’s personality a lot. If only I could be that hard working. She’s the rock that keeps everyone else from going bananas.
(8.6) - Rainbow Dash: I like her enthusiasm for wanting to be the best she can. She also gets a lot of good expressions during the series that are very memorable. Perhaps more than fashion pon.
(8.6) - Pinkie Pie: Honestly, I’d rate Party Ponk higher, but it really depends on who’s writing her. There were some moments in prior seasons where she seemed kinda mean (Definitely recall a moment or two in season 4 where I was like “whoa Pinkie dats rood daaaang”). I’d place her even with Fast pony though. She does get a lot of laughs out of me though just the same.
(8.0) - Fluttershy AKA Agent Yellowquiet: Aesthetically, I like her design a lot. Flowing hair is one of my favorite things to draw. As a character though, I really wish they would take her a bit further on the show instead of beating the shy angle to death. I get it, it’s part of her character. But some growth, in some aspect, would be nice I guess? I feel like she’s just a foil to Discord lately.
It gets a bit muddy towards the bottom because to be honest, I like all of the mane 6. I put those numbers to the left of each one because that’s how I feel about it from 0 (worst) to 10 (best). Which is to mean, I like all of them to some extent.
