(general) 10 and 11, (choir) 5
Note: Since I don’t take lessons, we’re just gonna say performances.
10. Not practice for your lesson, and perform well YES. I’ve actually had to do this a couple of times due to time restraints. In fact, I did this recently. All senior students in choir have to sing the senior song for graduation. I still don’t know the lyrics, yet we performed really well.
11. Practiced for your lesson, and perform AWFUL
Oh yeah, many times. It’s the worst feeling when your multiple rehearsals sounded way better than your actual performance. I remember one particular moment was in my first year auditioning for Disney’s Candlelight in freshman year. We had to learn “Silent Night” in German, and I just couldn’t get the lyrics down. I practiced day to night for the past week and when we were tested on them individually like the rest of the songs, I was one of the only people who failed the test.
5. Tried to sing out of your range and sound like a siren of dying ducks
Speaking as an Alto, dear GOD yes. However I kept singing in that range while keeping in mind of proper vocal technique, and now I can sing in that range (still an Alto though). I know this because I managed to sing most of Christine Daae’s parts without wanting to die, and one time I posted a vocal recording online and someone just assumed I was a Soprano. GOALS
