just saw your post about people hating on Free! and I gotta say, I totally feel you man. Plenty of other fandoms are spamming at the moment about stuff; why can't people just ignore what they don't like and focus on what they do?? No need to hate. Personally I can't stand seeing Tokyo Ghoul posts - because I don't like gore. I have no problem with people liking it; I'm sure it's a great series, I just don't want to see any posts about it. No need for hate?!? Geez people need to calm down.
ok i think i need to clarify something here: like i said, it's not really about people hating free! - because what i've seen isn't really acts/direct comments of hate, it's more like "oh god it's a lot of free! again", "whoops time to blacklist free!", "i'm going to stay off tumblr until the free! hype passes".
my concern wasn't really directly about it, because people are as free to dislike something as they are to like something, it was because majority of these comments came from several close friends of mine, and while they were not directly addressed to me (although that is not to say they could not have been) it made me feel really guilty and stopped me from enjoying free! a full 100%.
the post i made was me needing to express my feelings because i had it festering inside me for an unhealthily long period of time, it's not in any way a rant about haters or people who dislike free! because (if i may confess something) i used to feel the exact same way as them when free! first came out (and look where i am now). i'm sorry if anybody got the wrong idea!
but i understand your feelings and i get what you mean! you make a really good point, and everyone is free to not want to see something from a fandom or certain topic. and you're right that free! isn't the only fandom that is going through some crazy hype at the moment, it just so happens that maybe free! is just a lot more popular, and admittedly the fandom can be a bit...too much, for some people anyway.
i suppose the point here is that there is no need for other people to make a big dance about them disliking a fandom/series/subject and have to make such a big point about it (if i could have a dollar each time i scrolled past a post with a screencap of people blacklisting free!). you can dislike a thing and be discreet about it, you don't get a gold star for standing out amongst the crowd and proclaiming that you don't like/want to see a thing that is very popular.
thanks for your message! you're right, definitely, that people don't need to make a huge fuss about a fandom getting their groove on just because they dislike it - xkit and its glorious blacklist function is there for a reason!, unless the fandom is shoving things down their throat (and to which i say i hope the free!dom has not done anything of that sort).
it's important to make people feel welcomed and unashamed of their likes & dislikes even what they enjoy is not your thing!!
