Since moving to my house, I have been looking for a way to connect to the web in a more normal way than my Tab. I wanted to use a service provider such as Speedy or First Media but connection it seemed was not going to be easy.
First Media seemed to be the ideal package, an all in one tv and internet option which would sort out all my needs, alas not available in my part of town. Telcom requires a land line and that is something I just don't need at the moment as the cost of having a line to the house and then paying for something I wont use seems very pointless. Biznet is not an option so unless I get a landline installed I have to find another way.
Having Indovision you would have thought that they could also provide an all in one package with both TV and Internet beamed into the house via a satelite dish but Indovision have yet to sort that out.
I am lucky enough to have a Galaxy Tab which allows me to use it as a portable wifi hotspot but I dont want to use it just for that and so I have kept looking and thinking what is the best thing from there.
IM2, Telkom Flash and a host of other operators all provide wireless connection over the air, I assume fast internet connection through 3g or something for a price. The trouble is for me, is that the web sites are not easy to understand and the price range is vast. So knowing all this, I went off to Ratu Plaza to sort it out once and for all.
Finding Telkomsel Flash first for around 400k with 3 months unlimited use seemed a great option however when I went to pay with my ATM card, the shop could not accept it and so on the premise I will return with cash, I left and went to another store. This time I found SmartFren USB connection for a lot less (270,000k) and a months free unlimited usage and the store were happy to take my Permata ATM card. Good enough for me I thought and so 10 minutes later when the store registered it for me I was on my way home with the internet connection I needed.
Its slow but not slow enough to really worry about. The speed is good enough for browsing, playing online games and up loading photos. I don't download music or watch much You Tube so it suits me fine for now, until something better comes along.
As far as I know as long as I pay 100k a month in top up for the telephone number then I will get a 'relatively' decent speed for browsing. I don't need to take the net book with me as I have a tab so for just general browsing at home, its just the job.
something about Telkomsel customer-service desktop application (part 2)
The last person-in-charge did what he has promised, contacted the central office. Finally, we got a decent answer. It is said that the the additional charge comes from mobile data service of account number 082xxxxx.
I'm kind of speechless and finally kind of understand of what is really going on why my TelkomselFlash service always still active despite we have asked it to be stopped and still get charged upon it.
The reason of this thing in one sentence is :
Because we didn't say the TelkomselFlash service number.
In detail I'll explain my assumption about how did the customer service work on my case for these time along :
My mother and I always said to stop the service from my mother's account, we never said my TelkomselFlash number. Well, I won't think that we were at fault this and so were Telkomsel.
So, when we said to the person-in-charge "Please stop TelkomselFlash service from my mother's account", here are the things that I think has happenned :
She entered my mother's account number onto the customer service desktop application
In my mother's account page, there's a Telkomsel Flash or Mobie Data Section. In that section, she turned off the service by pushing a button or whatever it is.
Okay, it's just as simple as that. The problem is : She did those things on my mother's account page which the number is 081xxxxx. She turned off the service of number 081xxxxx not 082xxxxx.
So, why am I speechless?. It's because the desktop application doesn't give any notification or something like notification that CAN TELL there is ANOTHER ACCOUNT that INTEGRATES into my mother's account.
Why the application can't tell that MAYBE the TelkomselFlash service is not coming from one account but another one that integrates into that account?
I think my problem won't be happen if :
the application can tell that there is another account integrates into my mother's account, and it's the one using the TelkomselFlash/mobile data service. So, it's okay if me and my mother said my mother's account only.
or
the person-in-charge should actively ask whether in my mother's account there is another account that integrate into, so maybe the TelkomselFlash service is coming from there.
or
I should say my own TelkomselFlash account number instead of my mother's.
something about Telkomsel customer-service desktop application (part 1)
Before I start this post I would say that this post is pure based on my assumption. Well, if someone inside Telkomsel Corporation read this post, please correct me if I'm wrong.
So, here is the background of this post. I'm a customer of TelkomselFlash, a product of Telkomsel providing internet connection in form of mobile data. So, there is a SIM card to get inserted into such as a plug-and-play modem. I've been using it for few years, then last November I decided to stop. Why? Because I'm actually using two mobile data services (the other one is not a Telkomsel's product) , so my mother said to stop one of them for efficiency. (I know I have to :D)
For a brief explanation, I'm using KartuHalo-based TelkomselFlash, so mine is post-paid. Then, Telkomsel has this kind of integration where you can put the bills of different account of Telkomsel products into one-joined bill. So, because my mother also a customer of Telkomsel (she's using KartuHalo for her mobile phone), I integrate my bill onto my mother's bill.
Here is the illustration (remember that it's very subjective) :
It was the day in November 2012, my mother came to GraPari -a Telkomsel one-stop service. She asked for my TelkomselFlash's service to be stopped. She told the girl-in-charge, "Please, stop the TelkomselFlash service from my account".
The girl said okay, then went to operate her customer-service desktop application. After some clicks, my mother got something like a receipt. She went home hoping that there would be no additional charge again for my TelkomselFlash service on her bill. But, December's bill came and nothing was changed.
She was so confused, then asking me to go with her to GraPari again. There, we asked why there was still additional charge on my mother's bill. I don't mean any bad things by saying this, but actually we got a very ridiculous answer, because it's just so out of logic. Well, I'm kind of understand why the girl-in-charge answered like that, maybe because she's just following the guidelines. In the end, we repeated the same thing as my mother asked.
The girl said okay, once again did some clicks on her customer-service desktop application. We waited for the January's bill to come. And tada, there was still no change. My TelkomselFlash service was still on and it was charged.
Huff.. My mom decided to go to another GraPari, there she didn't bother to ask about the reason behind why my TelkomselFlash service was still on. She just said however it is that there will be no additional charge again on her bill for the February's bill. The customer service, once again said okay, but this time added by saying "we will contact the central office if you still get charged next month."
February came, and as I was thought, they still charge my TelkomselFlash service.
