Wilson Waffling does Apps - Tellagami #ukedchat #primaryrocks #primedchat So I thought I would start a new feature all about apps! I'm not sure if this is going to stay or not, but there are quite a few apps out there that I either use a lot for either teaching or learning so I thought I would bring them to you in these short videos.

May’s 21st century tool of the month was tellagami. Tellagami is a free iPad app that creates cartoon avatars which allow you to type or record your own voice to make the cartoon avatar speak. Because you can save your 30 second video called a “gami” to the camera roll, you can use it to app smash. You can even use tellagami with…

How To Launch and Recover a High Altitude Balloon
I realize that the infographic and Tellagami below don't do a very good job of describing how to exactly launch and recover a high altitude balloon. But I think that's part of the problem with this type of how-to.
The task is extremely difficult to pull off. There are so many factors at play. Budgets, time, availability of experts, weather patterns. Time. Did I mention time?
My colleagues (@Nusknights and @Notleycrew1) and I started the conversation with our students in November and didn't actually launch the balloon until the middle of April.
We would be more than willing to have a conversation with you and perhaps even find ways to create a partnership across states to launch a balloon this school year. We are by no means experts, but we have done it twice, so we know a few ways to fail.
In the meantime, check out the sallyskyrider tumblog, check out the SallySkyRider Flickr album, follow @SallySkyRider on Twitter and on Instagram, and request additional materials we have on Google Drive.
Tellagami! It is the in thing!
This past week I attended the Alabama Educational Technology Conference. If you haven't been before, I highly recommend it. I have been several times now and have never been disappointed. This year, the app most talked about was Tellagami. It reminds me of Voice Thread if you have ever used that app. Tellagami is an iPad app that lets the user create 30 second movies called Gamis. Users create a character and background. Once the voice is added, the user can create. I see this as a great tool to allow our students to do all kinds of reports from biographies, characterizations, explaining a concept, and so much more. Of course, it is wonderful to use as an educator somewhere in your lesson to spice it up. This app was first developed for users to use on social networking sites, but the education community has embraced it. Gamis can be emailed, put on FB, or Tweeted. You can put them into your i Movie creations too. The Tellagami site is @ https://tellagami.com
