Nightmare's feelings are always so fun to dissect, especially if they're about Dream.
He can't stand being the same in the same room as him. Even looking at Dream reminds him about his failures and what Nightmare could have been like if things were a little different.
But at the same time, he can't stop himself from protect his brother. It's why, even though Dream's petrified form makes his soul swell with feelings he can't quite decipher, he still patrols the golden grass to eliminate anyone he finds. He's killed dozens of people for someone he'd rather hide from then confront directly. It scares Nightmare far more than he'd like to admit.
He wants to protect his brother, but can't bear the thought of letting him go. He'd shatter Dream's bones if it meant he couldn't run away from him.
He gave everything up to save him that day, and he'll be damned if it was all for nothing.
In some ways, Dream's petrification was Nightmare's perfect ideal. The perfect preservation of the little brother he'd lost. Never changing, never running from him, never hating him.
To have him has the same loving brother he'd once rested his head on when times were tough, forever and forever til the end of time. It was perfect.
Especially because that's exactly how he'd treat Horror if he'd decide to run away.
I was wondering if Error could do his job as destroyer of the multiverse? Or if Ink somehow as to do both (storyless characters made me remember a fanfic where Ink did exactly that.)
The Destroyer and Ink actually work really well together! [even if the Destroyer is unaware of this].
"Storyless" here refers to people without an AU to go home to, a story, and Ink's targets are exclusive to the storyless. Most of the storyless come from torn apart by the Destroyer itself, and to help them, Ink offers them a place among his palette.
They work well together in the way that they don't make the conscious choice to do so, but the consequence of the actions of the former positively influences the latter.
There is a reason why some people call Ink a vulture.
I'm thinking so hard about the Starlings [Star Sanses] in Telltale because they all seem so fun to write about and which genre of games they come from but making art for each one is going to kill me.

Our core 3 members:
Outertale Sans, Cosmo; his universe is all about photography across the stars, think like Flock Around but with constellations and spatial phenomenons instead of birds. The monsters of his universe would give out quests for photographing certain stars, planets, asteroids or constellations, sometimes some monsters challenge the player by asking for multiple things in one photo!
While his universe shouldn't have any death, Cosmo's branch somehow divulged into a genocide run that didn't meet completion. Cosmo is one of the few survivors along with his Alphys. He founded the Starlings to help humans and monsters across the Multiverse from losing their homes too.
Sewing with Muffet! Muffet, Thimble; her world was all about the peaceful plush residence Muffet teaching the player about sewing, step by step similar to Cooking Mama. It was all about sewing blankets, clothing, even dolls!
But then the Destroyer came, and her whole world was torn apart by the seams.
She joined the Starlings to get any thread of her friends back, ready to fight thread and needle for them. At least she knows where Undyne is, even if she's not in the best of places.
Dancetale Sans, Dancer; his home is all about the rhythm! His world would function similarly to Friday night funkin or maybe Guitar Hero, having the player play beat by beat in order to progress through the fight. I'd imagined it plays almost similar to the Omega flower fight [or even like a geometry dash level is some cases] where there are no pauses and you better hope you click the right button when it's on screen while you stay on beat with music.
Unlike with Cosmos universe, his peaceful game stays peaceful and with the lack of Players. He helps Cosmo in his crusade to help, even if he feels under prepare for the job sometimes, even with the power boosts he can give to the Starlings with the power of dancing.
Secondary Starlings; these Starlings that are definitely important, but I may not write/draw them as often:
Underswap: Stitch Together-3 Papyrus, Rust; feeling like his home is a shell of what used to be, he joins the Starlings to pushed down the feelings of losing everyone he cares about, of his friends, his brother. He isn't to pleased to be working with their killer and a funhouse version of his brother.
Undermixed: Stitch Together-26 Sans, Mix; his world is the most the same as your run of the mill RPG [well, as run of the mill something Undertale can get] but this world has a twist! It's two a player world! Bring along a friend and enjoy the underground with... minor complications of not everything merging correctly.
Any monsters that were dead before the merge didn't come back. This wouldn't be a problem if both Players completed pacifist runs, but neither did; instead both were in the process of completing neutral runs, with Stripe [Chara-3] having finished a No Mercy run.
It still hurts Mix sometimes when he catches Rust [Papyrus-3] looking at him with pain painting in his face.
Underswap: Stitch Together-3 Chara, Stripe; Their guilt of the dust on their hands pushes them to be a better person, not just the people they've hurt but those they could help too. Their fear still holds them; they can feel their hand tremble as it tries to reach a weapon. But with their friends and reluctant coworker, they're sure they'll make it
Works with Starlings:
____tale, Ink; "works" is doing a lot of heavy lifting, it's more like a barely tolerated alliance. Very few of the Starlings actually want to work with Ink, some like Cosmo are hopeful they can at least come to an agreement, while others like Thimble refused to work with him thanks to the bad filling between the two. Still, he's a valuable asset, even if some Starlings don't trust him.

The Destroyer's corruption progresses

Underswap Sans' corruption progresses when he is killed and starts corrupting Underswap's code making it unable to be stabilized itself. To restabilize it, Underswap and Undermixed's codes were stitched together by Thimble to be able to save them both. The codes from both parties are combined, especially for those who had dusted, leaving those who have died unable to revive next reset. Undermixed Sans' code is infected, asymptomatic.
The Destroyer still kidnaps Undermixed Sans thinking he is Swap. It's doing this thanks to misreading his now scrambled code. This is the only reason Mix is still alive.

It's not the first time someone asked, but I wish it was the last
I want to make a bit of an analysis of A little chunk of Hope's fairytale because I like talking and I had a lot of fun making it. I'll go down most of the important lines and talk about their meanings, why I pick them, and even how they differ from the true story.
"Let me tell you a story. About a boy, his brother, and a monster."
Our three main characters: Dream, Nightmare... and Nightmare [we'll call this version Mare for clarity's sake]. This one line is made to tell you a lot about this story, about who's telling it and who they deem important. Dream, the boy, is the important one, with Nightmare being deemed so unimportant he's just labeled as "his brother," and not with Dream {e.i. "Let me tell you a story. About two boys and a monster."}
"Their tree held fruit like no other, Golden Apples that could chase away negativity with a single bite. And in one day, a monster stole it all away."
The knowledge that the Tree actually bore two different kinds of fruit have been lost to time just like Dream's name. It tell the listener what the Golden Apples are and it was special, maybe even why Mare wanted it; stealing away all joy and not chase him away.
"a monster stole it all away." it is of course referring to the Golden Apples themselves, but it's also referring to Nightmare and how Mare stole him away.
"When the boys fought the beast, the monster slayed the youngest in a single strike, his brother near behind."
"fought" is doing a lot of heavy lifting, seeing how Nightmare is referred to have died very quickly. This is probably one of the most truthful sentences in the story though, since Nightmare did fall first, becoming the monster told in the story.
Even with the Golden child entombed, the king of Nightmares still awaits his return, still patrolling the wastelands of his bloodshed to have the brothers reunite once more.
The name of the forgotten boy ended up being claimed by the monster that killed an entire village, the Tree, and turning his brother to stone.
Nightmare's name still persists to this day, but at what cost?

In the end, this story is told as cautionary tale not to go near were the golden grass grows, since Mare still hunts down people he finds near his brother.

1. You can try to give the Destroyer some headphones. But the instability of it's code might make it difficult.
2. They are not. While the Nightfall don't typically intend to hurt people they come across, they are known for pillaging resources from other worlds or implanting negativity in incredibly positive AUs so it can fester. Both of these don't help the negative rumors that already surrounded them, especially when some Starlings feel like they've been personally wronged by someone in the Nightfalls
3. I'm guessing you mean the worlds that they left behind?
Dreamtale; it's probably fairing the best of the bunch, given it's sustaining life normally and by all accounts it seems perfectly normal. The only notable thing is the monster covered in a black tar that patrols to eliminate by the old roots of a long forgotten tree.
Something New; it's mostly okay. Killer reset his world to the start, before all the death. It's like it never happened!... But Papyrus gets worried whenever Sans doesn't call for too long... which is often unfortunately. Killer can't handle the sound of his voice, it's too much for him most days.

4. I really want them to! I have two different Underswap Chara planned in the story and one on Ink's Palette [although I don't have a solid plan for them yet]. So yes, some humans will be mention.

6. I don't have an AU name Underseams? You could be misremembering Undermixed, a Swap AU variant based off of Stringalink Outswaped AU [it's a really fun AU], or maybe Sewing with Muffet? An AU based off of the game Cooking Mama but with sewing instead of cooking. I'll need more information to answer this properly.
7. A good chunk of AUs self-contained and haven't yet/don't know they've had interactions with the Multiverse. That being said, Omega timeline is the only one that currently comes to mine. I may add to this later.
I am back. I was wondering about Horror new eye? In the comic Horror normally as a red eye that he stole from another monster. Does it have reasons why it changed?
Hello again! And yes. It's the same eye as back then, but it loses it's magic overtime and needs to be replenished. Horror doesn't have his own magic so he needs to rely on others to replenish his eye. Normally his brother would do this but...
This means what colour his eye is depends on who gives him magic; his eye is mostly fueled by Nightmare's magic which give it that bright teal color. But both Killer and Dust can give magic too, both with their own color.
