tbh it’s kind of comforting to hear you get rejected too? like I submit short stories, and while I get a few publications, I get so many rejections. it can get disheartening. but I agree with you about wanting validation more than money and not wanting to self publish. the ego boosts keep me going.

I write short stories very seldom -- I keep meaning to work on more of them, and then I get distracted by NOVELS and FANFIC -- and I know that the short fiction publishing industry is partly a matter of numbers, luck, and your story reaching an editor who is looking for That Kind Of Thing at That Precise Moment. which is one reason I like submitting to themed anthologies. (another is: DEADLINES. deadlines are good for me.)

all you can do is keep at it. and occasionally hunt down soothing articles about how many rejection slips stephen king/jk rowling/etc. received before they started publishing.

you're a GP! I always wondered. I'm going into internship next year, am hoping to go into O&G, but GP is my second choice if I get burned out by shift work :D

I loved my O&G term! but it’s a bit too surgical/procedural a specialty for me, I think, and by the end of that term and a couple of intense ED terms I was OFFICIALLY SICK OF WORKING NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS and fled happily to the realm of normal working hours. 

as a female GP I do a lot of gynae and a lot of antenatal care anyway, and also get to LOOK AFTER THE BABIES AFTERWARDS <3 it’s great.

YES. I’m going to dress up and everything. it’s been a while since my last supanova!

I actually associate med school exams and supanova intimately due to spending a lot of my first year study breaks SEWING RUFFLES for a costume, and then sitting my exams and then getting 0 hours of sleep the night before the con while finishing that costume (this being something you can feasibly do, when you are 21; I then got a luxurious 2 hours of sleep the following night because I was rolling around in the shambles of my circadian rhythms and hot-glue-gunning a wig together for another costume, and then I drank a lot of coffee--there are photos of me dressed as mai from avatar guzzling a flat white and looking kind of zombieish and wild about the eyes--and somehow I DID NOT DIE?) but YOU DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO. exams are important.

It's only about a three-hour commitment to watch all the episodes and they will change your life; cannot endorse it any more highly

I’d actually want them to play best friends who are both snarky as fuck and they con men for a living

And I will second that and also accept “two respectful rivals in different rock bands trying to make it big without selling out” and I have come to the conclusion that I just desperately need them together on screen in opposition to other people
