"I'm not even going to ask."
"Aw, come on! At least you got turned into somethin’ cute rather than like a uh, like a goblin or something!"
The kitten pouted, frowning up at the big bug’s face. “But ah wanna be a big kitty!”
"Oh come on, it's temporary!" He scoffed as he laid down in front of Icarus. "Not every day you get to be young again. I've been turned into a little kid too- twice!"
He paused. "Then again it really stunk, so I guess I feel ya there."
"Hey, li'l Red."
"What’s new, pussycat- woah!" He looked waaaaay down. "You’re a little shorter than I remember!" The cybrid leaned down in front of Icarus- which was almost completely at ground level. "Greys getcha?"
"Uh…sorry, I don’t have pain meds for cyborgs. What happened to you?"
Long story short, a stoppable force met an unbreakable object while my fists were low-poly, and I think I cracked something. I mean maybe I’m okay, they’re made for high impact, but it hurts.
"Maybe some ice?"
Somehow I doubt ice will help ease the pain in my robot hands, but better something than nothin'.
"So, is this place empty?"
Thankfully no However, if you know where I can find robo-advil, that would be splendid, because my knuckles are killing me after bashing them against stuff that apparently can't be broken- namely a force field.
Some other You!
It's been many lonely centuries down in the deep pits of the sea. Now and then the old beast would come across an oar fish, or an angler, or the sunken remains of something long-forgotten from when he was young, but all he cared to find down there was food- and so long as there were fish in the sea, there was food to be had. Light was scarce, unheard of in the Abyss beyond what one's own body made.
So when his discovery of an old, sunken porpoise led to having a high-power flood light in his face, the natural first reaction was to scream in agony. It had come from some kind of glass and metal sphere, whose frame shook as a large, sharp-toothed claw the size of a school bus knocked against its side. The light being spun away from him gave the red beast a chance to put it out, to make the source of pain go away.
It wasn't until after a hard, clamping squeeze released a massive wave of disorienting bubbles and horribly painful sparks that he thought it might have been a bad idea.
