it’s fine. what I meant is that yes, these topics are often central in plotlines of teen dramas (skins, etc), but the way Skam shows it is very different. surely, Skam didn’t invent the wheel and it’d be preposterous to say so, but as I said, the way it shows these things is very much different from other shows. surely, it ain’t perfect, but it’s good the way it is. and as I said, I came off horribly hostile when in fact is just wanted to explain :((

oh love, please don’t feel like you sounded wrong or came across in a wrong way. tumblr sometimes makes us afraid to express our opinions because if you don’t get it spot on your are a bad person which used to scare me because english isn’t my native language. you didn’t call anybody names or attacked me or crossed any personal borders. and i think it’s healthy and important to communicate and voice opinions especially when they differ and just have a conversation. it’s good for getting out of your personal perspective and maybe gaining a new point of view. so for my part i really enjoy conversations and i don’t mind it when people feel differently about things and communicate that. you weren’t hostile you were firm and you made me try to express myself better and think about my opinions and that’s always a good thing

well, maybe because this show tackles a lot of topics that others don’t - like mental illness, internalized homophobia, rape, religion and stuff like that. it’s highly addicting, the characters are very relatable and lovable and all around a very well written show imo

i do think that those are very important topics to be discussed and depicted in the media and i hope i didn’t come across as not caring about it or thinking they aren’t important. but speaking about teen dramas, those topics were always central to plot lines in recent years. of course not all of it at once or on all tv shows but they were integral parts of the genre. so what astounds me is not that it relates to people or people feel that it’s important to tackle e.g. and mental illness with teens but that people treat skam (at least some on my dash) like it invented the wheel. i can’t say anything about how well written those issues and story lines are and i couldn’t possibly comment on it without having seen a single episode. so that’s where my verdict that i am probably just too old and gotten grumpy comes from. (i mean i saw dawson’s creek when it was still a weekly tv thing)

I absolutely feel you on this part. Most YA has the mainstream romance but there are some really, really good YA books focusing on sthg else completely (or have diverse/very good romances)

ahhh i’m sure there are! i’m just gonna take a break and maybe come back to that genre some time later :’)

same like im okay w/ it if it adds nicely to the story (i love lyra & will from hdm!!) but the hunger games, divergent & hp had so much unnecessary het

thg and hp is nothing compared to some of the horrors i’ve seen omg (though will i ever get over that awful thg love-triangle... i don’t think so)

but i agree about lyra and will, it was a great addition!

I love the Icarus myth bc we all fall in love with things and people we shouldn't, then we feel the burn and the fall. It's like tempting hubris again and again, yet we can't go too low either because it'd be a slow and painful death of laziness and unsatisfaction (if that makes sense ...). And just imagining Daedalus' grief afterwards, pulling his son out of the sea ... aaah, I love it. (also I love your url <3)

You described it so well ; it’s important to keep the sea part because often people focus on the sun -but it’s the sea that killed him, not the sun. I’m so sad for Daedalus, seriously. This poem is one of my fave ever and uggggh you can feel the pain ??Thank you so much for sharing and for that compliment eheh ♡ (+ tell me about your fave myths/gods)
