The Vitthala temple faces east and it is a Sandhara temple with Garbhagriha, Open Maha Mantapa, Closed Ardha Mantapa with side porches and a covered Pradakshina Prakara.
The main shrine was built in two phases, beginning with a spacious enclosed Mantapa, recently restored, leading to a sanctum with a brick and mortar Vimana surrounded by a passageway. The sanctum is now empty, its doorway and ceiling are fractured by fire, evidence of the destruction wrecked on the temple.
The central courtyard is now roofless. The tritala Vimana of the Garbhagriha is well finished. The brick superstructure of the Vimana with domical Shikara can be seen.
The outer wall of the temple has ornate Devakoshtas with large and well proportioned Kuma Panjaras.
Massive brackets and beams rise above supporting lofty ceilings composed of solid granite slabs, some exceeding 10 meters.

Photo 9 - Kudure Gombe Mantapa located in the Vitthala Bazaar towards the east. It is called because of the presence of the pillars with horse riders in it.
