self portrait.
this was taken in the basement of a building on wall street, new york. it was an old bank turned into a theatre. i cannot remember the building it was in. i went there to see a friend’s play.
during intermission, i explored the vault area and found this open passageway. there weren’t any lights, but the dim light from my phone helped me realize how narrow and odd this was. i kept walking to what seemed like a dead end. only to realize that the path lead to a left turn at the 90-degree. walking slowly, i wondering if there were going to be spiderwebs, a trap door, the boogey man. none were there. just another left-hand turn, but this time, a slim mirror was at the end. so, here i am, in an edged-U shaped tunnel that led me back to 50′ feet away from where i started.
what could have been the purpose of this passage?
after the storm.
hi, everyone! i suppose i should give a brief introduction of myself and my work.
my name is jeanette. i was born, raised, and am residing in brooklyn, ny. my wife and i have two german shepherds, sonic and zoey.
when i’m not running around with them, i like to take pictures. currently, i have a fujifilm xe2, but some of these photos were taken with canon 5d. i taught myself photography over the years by reading the manuals and testing every setting since 2003. i don’t edit any of my photographs. if they don’t appear as i want them to, i delete them.
temporary light is named after a line in one of my poems. i like to write, also. the poem is called “the 86,400 revealed”. you can read it here on my writing blog, temporary right:

i’ll be posting my favorite photos, and from time to time will have a contest to win a 4x6 print. so, stay tuned, pass it on, and repost! i would love to connect with other artists. thanks for your support and feel free to reach out!
Goodnight lovely people, hope you all have a good night (: x
~Thanks to mell0w-vib3zzz for the very sweet messages as well, they definitely brightened up my night and I send the compliments right back to you!
The hands of children dappled for a moment here then gone now speckled grey and dark, in billowing gusts across any surface. I've never prayed to the right God or shrine but - in a space between breaths in the blue at the back of my eyes - I could glimpse behind some veil of light, and I threw my arms wide, threw my head back wider still. The night is not silent when you listen. The black is not nothing when you're looking.

Suzanne Cooper is smoking a cigarette, racks of cookies are cooling. Her kitchen curtains are wide open. Sunlight is pouring into the room, brushing against the white apron she is wearing. And she is startled by the thought that she is somehow a candle in the window and she is lit, at this moment, from within.
