This group exhibition of all female artists examines the materiality of art practices and investigates the significance of craft elements in contemporary art. Never Met Her highlights artists of varying backgrounds and whose art deals with overlapping concepts and materials. Going beyond the cannon of the white space this show reject any norms with an unapologetically colorful experience. Through these individual investigations of identity through objects, materials, and process, there is an emphasis in connecting these artist who come from diverse locations. Using an abundance of color, texture, and craft the show identifies the intimacy, agency, and power of these experiences. Never Met Her aims to explore craft processes and create a platform for an expanded conversation within contemporary art context. Never Met Her will open at CUNSTHAUS on Friday, April 6th, in conjunction with First Friday Art in the Heights. The show runs until Friday, May 4th.
