NEED SOMETHING WITH DANA IN THE ON CALL ROOM STAT
A/N: Shoutout to all the migraine/headache havers shit sucks, we all need Dana comforting us and playing with our hair. Hope this is enjoyable/makes sense :)
There was only one thought going through Dana’s mind as she was searching through the halls of the ED. Where in the hell were you? She’d checked the patient rooms, ambulance bay, hell even the supply closets and she still couldn’t locate you.
She was passing one of the patient rooms when she spotted Donnie tending to a patient, so she poked her head in and asked him.
“Hey Donnie, I seem to be missing a nurse. Any clue where she might be?”
“Uh yeah saw her heading to an on-call room, mentioned something about a headache.”
Shit that wasn’t good, you’d mentioned to her before how bad your headaches could get.
“Right, thanks Donnie.” With that she was headed towards the on call rooms. It didn’t take long before she found the room you were in. Curled up on your side, one ice pack covering your eyes while the other was laying on the back of your neck. You stirred slightly at the door opening, she quickly shut the door behind her and made her way over.
“Hey hon just me, don’t get up, it's fine.” rubbing your arm in a comforting gesture as you settle back down. “Ya take any meds yet?”
“Yeah took some tylenol about 10 minutes ago, should be fine soon.”
“Hey no no you take all the time you need hon.” Her hand moves to cup your jaw then, rubbing her thumb along your cheek to comfort you. “If you're not feeling well after a while I’m sending you home.”
“Dana–”
“Nuh uh missy I am not having my favorite nurse working while in pain.”
“Oooo don’t let anyone else hear that I’m your favorite.” She chuckles at your remark before gently scooching you over so she could fit on the bed with you.
“I was gonna take a smoke break but this seems like a better use of my time, yeah?” she remarks as she gets comfortable, wrapping an arm around your waist to bring you closer, positioning your head into the crook of her neck even though the ice pack is freezing against her skin.
You don’t reply, just a little nod into the side of her neck where your head is tucked. You can feel the arm tucked around your waist move up until you feel her fingers reach the base of your skull, rubbing gently to help release the pressure that's residing there. It’s silent for a while before you speak again.
“Thanks for staying with me Dana.”
“It’s no problem hon, if you’re not feeling better I’ll ask Perlah or Princess to cover for me so I can take you home.” You both fall into silence then, the hustle and bustle of the ER fading into the background as you slowly fall to sleep.
