Origins of your blog's name: When I was setting up my archive on AO3 I wanted to find a name that said queer/words, and Quordle seemed perfect. Unfortunately just "Quordle" was already taken on tumblr so I'm QuordleOnAo3.

My "I'll always order this food": Channa dahl. Or a baked potato with garlic butter, baked beans, and cheese. But channa dahl just has that perfect combo of flavour and stodge.

Overused emoji: Probably the heart emoji?

Current comfort movie, show and book: I was going to say I don't have comfort movies, but there are certainly some movies I'll always watch when available: feelgood re-watchable movies like Jaws, The Cabin in the Woods, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Lion in Winter, The Truman Show, Alien/Aliens, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Bugsy Malone, The Fugitive. Show: MAS*H and The West Wing. Book: Right now it's Lois McMaster Bujold's The Spirit Ring. Or maybe Rudyard Kipling's Kim. But for quite a while it was Hilary Mantel's The Mirror and the Light.

Song on repeat: "Who Wants to Live Forever" - Queen.

My current hyperfixation: Finding out new ways for Hawkeye and Mulcahy to be good dads to Buffy Summers. Also, specifically over the next few days, uploading some very old Professionals stories to AO3.

Oddly specific thing that brings me joy: When I click on my profile on AO3 and I see someone has left a comment on one of my stories. Also, when my cat is sleeping and I pet him and he starts purring in his sleep.

Something I did as a kid and still do: Invent imaginary houses and walk around inside them thinking out what I would put in this room or that.

Phone wallpaper right now: Just a boring default Galaxy pic in shades of blue.

Are you an early bird or a night owl: Night owl. I really hate having to get up first thing in the morning.

8) How many tumblr friends have you met, who are they and who would you love to meet.

This is a bit of a trick question in the following sense--I had some IRL friends who had tumblrs (unbeknownst to me at the time) and so I am going to include them. One of my employees becoming mutuals here is one of the reasons I left last time... so there's one.

Dre the Cajun was an IRL friend who brought me to tumblr to get some things out when I couldn't talk to many people... fifteen or sixteen years ago.

I met @lazydad and we took an awesome couple of pictures togetehr at that bay area (not tampa, not green bay, and certainly not Galveston bay) sushi place. That was an epic meeting... I still think about it and about Kip and his family.

I met @womaninterrupted and she was every bit as charming and amazing in person as she is on her blog.

I met @shengsterr on here when I was in Dubai--that was pretty cool. Probably my "farthest from home" tumblr meetup yet.

I met my wife Aya here on tumblr and then IRL and the rest, they say, is history.

I met a tumblr known as La Chula and felt like I was in the wrong room the whole time. Like, who was I to be there in that moment? I kinda feel this way when I meet any of you, btw.

I met the lovely and inspirational @melodic98 and had have always tried to support her educational endeavors for her students (you should too!).

Had one of the most lovely dinners with the beautiful and enigmatic @trackabandoned in one of the cutest downtowns in all my travels...

And I take piano lessons from and occasionally am blessed to photograph multi-talented generally-good-human @rafithecool.

I'd love to meet all of you, of course. Been close to meeting many more of you in my travels, but one thing or another made it not work out. But I still get on airplanes, so if you ever want to meet up and you see me coming to your area--hit me up! I'm always down for a meal or coffee and a selfie!

4. I wouldn't say I had a style, I just wear whatever is comfortable. I'm not fashion forward unless it's for work.

5. Black, Red, Purple, Several Shades of Brown, Blue. I stopped dying it two years ago.

6. Dear Santa with Jack Black...like damn...it was awful.

7. the new Fantastic Four, people are sceptical but it can't be as bad as the reboot.

8. Star Trek as it just got way too toxic. If you don't like what everyone else likes then you get threats of SA from salty fanboys. I still love my Trek but I do it quietly.

9. Fox. We don't really have many native animals that aren't rats or pigeons.

10. What the new year has in store. Probably lame, but this has been the first year I have been well enough to work from start to finish and therefore do things that I was unable to do previously.

Ten Questions for Writers

Thank you for the tag @shrekgogurt! I'm missing these on my dash, apparently, becuase I've only seen yours and one other! I'll have to go search for everyone else's.

How many works do you have on AO3? 3 (technically 4 but we orphaned one of them out of shame)

What’s your total AO3 word count? 19,544

What fandoms do you write for? I guess technically the answer is Simon Snow and Heartstopper, but the Heartstopper stuff is also crossed over with Simon Snow, so.... I also have a collection of Harry Potter drabbles from high school (and I think even one from a few years ago???) in my phone that will never see the light of day.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes! Because they're so nice and lovely and someon took the time to write to me, so I want to write back, but then sometimes idk what to say other than "thank you!" so I second guess myself and put off responding for a while and then one day I go "OH SHIT I never responded to that one???" and I go back and I just post the "thank you!" I'm a mess.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Nope

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! With one person (my best friend), and it's definitely the best thing I've written. I think I'd probably do really well collaborating with more people, but I'm still so scared to show people my work, especially my in-progress work! I need to leave the comfort zone, but also... that's hard.

What’s your all-time favorite ship? SnowBaz SnowBaz SnowBaz!

What are your writing strengths? Right now, I'm not feeling like I have any writing strengths. I am at an all-time-low in confidence these days, including creative writing. All that being said, I enjoy dialogue and find it comes most easily, so I think dialogue is probably my biggest strength? Even when I was starting to like what I was writing, I didn't feel like I had any strengths other than dialogue. Like I said, I'm a mess.

What are your writing weaknesses? Descrtiption is rough. And I have a hard time writing like... soft physical touch? At least if I know someone else is going to see it. Doesn't even have to be erotic in any way, just regular ol' sweet kisses and hugs and idk whatever other touches. I'm a very touch-positive person in real life, but writing it just feels awkward. And I think it does have more to do with whether someone will be reading it or not, so maybe goes back to the confidence issue. Maybe I should bring this up with my therapist...

First fandom you wrote for? Harry Potter, but the first fandom I published for was Simon Snow.

1.  What are some other hobbies you have besides reading?

I love travelling and dancing (I do ballroom, swing and some modern dancing, but honestly I like most styles!)

2. Your favourite typical food from your country

I adore Russian cooking, but I guess the thing I miss most is traditional drinks - and I mean non-alcoholic drinks! Yeah I know, contrary to some stereotypes. We have kvas (bread-based fizzy drink - sounds weird, but it's delicious and very refreshing in the summer), mors (berry-based) and medovukha (honey-based - this one is usually alcoholic but there are variations)

3. Do you have a tattoo? If yes, what made you decide to get one?

Nope! I don't think I could commit to it :)

4. What is the one skill you wish you could master?

Playing the viola! I have wanted to do it forever and even tried to start, but I just seem to hit the ceiling of what I can fit into my life there...

5. You’re famous somehow and a University awards you one of those giveaway PhDs as a publicity stunt. What would you be a Doctor of?

Eeeh problem finding? That's one thing I seem to be really good at in science - doing experiments so carefully that I end up finding many technical problems with the equipment that need solving. From the standpoint of doing good science it's a useful skill, but annoying as heck! (Says she after processing her data until half past midnight...)

6. Do you keep all the books that you read? If you keep only some, what makes you chose which to keep?

I used to keep absolutely all of them, and in fact protected my childhood library from throwing out many times - which I'm very happy about. But now I'm giving away some books that I don't need or didn't like - out of necessity, since I'm going to move a lot before I settle down, and can't carry everything with me

7. What is your favourite movie and/or TV show based on a book?

Controversial opinion: I actually like the old movie based on A Series of Unfortunate Events, which seemed to be criticized a lot after the Netflix series came out! I also have a soft spot for the Narnia movies. But I think my favourite is The Hedgehog, based on The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery

8. If nobody else is around and it’s cranked up loud, which song will you always dance to?

I'm fond of dancing, so honestly anything with a good rhythm if I'm in the mood!

9. New books or pre-loved books? Or both?

Both? Both. (Mentally inserting that gif from The Road to El Dorado.)

10. Non-fiction, yes or no? Why?

Normally it's not my thing, since I tried a few books and found that the information was disappointingly sparse and overshadowed by unnecessary heavy writing style. However for some reason I started reading much more non-fiction during the lockdown - just couldn't get my head into fictional worlds.
